Random golden swirls/sparks
 

I really can't think of a better title.

Over the years of playing WoW, I've occasionally seen these appear out of nowhere, stay for a few seconds, and disappear again. They're animated, but stay in place. Sometimes, several of them spawn in succession. Nobody I've ever asked had any idea what I was talking about.





Just focus on that please - ignore my spec etc etc :p it's just for RP. I didn't crop the screenshots so you'd get an idea about their size.

I've seen them spawn mostly in Stormwind and now in Ashenvale, typically when there are few other people around.

Anyone have an idea?

Looks like the shaman far sight or hunter eagle eye abilities but I don't know if other players are capable of seeing them. I've always been under the impression they couldn't.

edit: There's a post on wowhead that says other players can see far sight, so that's probably what it is.

You can see when a Hunter or Shaman uses their Eagle Eye/Far Sight as that swirly sparkle thingy, and that's probably what the screenshots show as well - so don't panic, you are just being hunted by some Horde.

So next time someone asks, I'll tell them it's a GM spying on them. :D
