Receive a special WoW Vanity Pet...
Are you a fan of WoW's vanity pets (companion pets)? If so, here's something you may not know... it isn't strictly related to nUI, but since I appealed to everyone for help on winning a trip to BlizCon via the Mountain Dew Fuel contest, I though I should point this out for the benefit of those who were not aware of it... everyone who participates in this contest and has an active account with World of Warcraft will, according to official word, be receiving a code via e-mail for a special vanity pet.
So... if you haven't already, I'd like to invite you to use my link to participate in the contest in whatever way you can if you haven't already. I get points (up to 250 a day) for everyone who registers on my link which, in turn, gives me a better chance to win a trip to BlizCon to represent for nUI and nUI's users and you get a cool vanity pet... that's a win-win in my book ~smile~ ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Game Fuel pets for all. Sort of. by Alex Ziebart May 19th 2009 at 2:00PM Worried about your chances of winning one of the battlebot pets from the Game Fuel promotion? Worry no more! Over the weekend, a Mountain Dew representative stated on their forums that everyone who registers and participates in the promotion will get one. The pet is not one of the items you need to win from the tokens we've been grinding RL dailies for. If you don't care about winning the Razer or AlienWare products, you can stop grinding your Badges of Dew. Pets codes have not been distributed yet, so don't panic if you haven't gotten one. Remember that these pets are only going into the game itself as of today, so even if they sent out the codes as soon as you registered, you wouldn't have been able to use it yet. Remember, this is unfortunately a US-only promotion. I can't condone people from other parts of the world trying to work around that, but... you're not going to see me trying to stop you , either. Enjoy your robot, (not really) everyone! |
*cries* no fair .. me wanna pet ... rofl .. actually I think the most pets I have on a toon is 4 :D
|
I'm not "hardcore" about vanity pets, but I do have a very respectable collection on my main and am always looking to improve his collection.
|
Unfortunately the pets are not available yet. :( But soon :)
Only real reason to actually collect this pet is once the promo is over .. the pet is no longer available. Also once the pet is released one will need to visit the Mt. Dew site on a DAILY basis to get fuel (stack of 5). It is believed the fuel will allow the pet to "battle" a pet of the opposing faction (or different colored fuel anyway). Once fuel runs out no one really knows what happens. They may add the fuel as a in game item you can purchase or at the very least the pet will at least be able to follow your around. The fuel and pet are 100% free and ONLY require one to set up a Mt.Dew account. You will also need to link your WoW account to a Battle.net account to get access to the code that will get you the pet. |
The last bit about having to link to the battle.net account is about the only thing i dislike about it. Reason being that when the Mrs. and i first started wow i had created the trial account but never really played.
Then she made a trial account and i started playing regularly. While i basically paid for the account under her email she paid for the one under mine (since she had toons from the initial trial she wanted to keep playing) and since i cant change the email its linked to (or at least i havent found a way to) Id rather not link to an account using her email. Its weird i know. We basically technically own each others accounts but only play on the ones we upkeep. If your confused then your reading it right. It confuses the hell out of me too lol. |

But like Silenia, the thought of not playing wow due to blizzards bugs is not nice and I would rather not convert until that is resolved. |
For those of you who are chasing after the BattleBot vanity pet, they are now available on the Dew site. If you are eligible to participate in the contest, you can go to http://www.mountaindewgamefuel.com/w...r=914322188140 and sign up (if you haven't already). Then there's a link at the bottom of the contest frame you can click to claim your BattleBot (also requires you have your WoW account tied to Battle.net or go ahead and register your WoW account with Battle.net after you click the link.
I received my BattleBot in the mailbox for every toon I have on every server I have a toon on. |
Thanks for the update. I just received mine as well.
You don't even need a Dew account ... I never logged into my Dew account. I clicked the Receive pet button and then logged into my Battle.net account. To those with concerns about the Battle.net account thing. Sorry to hear you won't be joining because us in getting Battle Bots. Eventually you will NEED to transfer to a battle.net account as that will be the central login point for all games from Blizzard. I know I read somewhere on Blizz site that eventually all accounts will need to be transferred. All I can say is when I created my battle.net account I had no problems whatsoever attaching WoW to it. |
I wonder if non-US players can use that link to get the BattleBot since they aren't eligible for the contest itself?

From the look of it, as long as you have a US Blizzard game account, you can get the pet whether you register with Dew or not.

Edit: I'm going to guess that you do indeed need to sign up and merge your account. Everyone said the ingame mail should of been instant once I logged out and back in. I've not received any in game mail. That's too bad. Blizzard needs to fix this Battle.net merge ordeal. |
On the upside merging my account it turns out will actually resolve the issue the Mrs. and i have with essentially playing accounts registered to the other one. Since the battle.net merge will set your account details to the bnet account. So looks like ill get the pet after all. Just have to double check the details and make sure to get the mrs. to do it. Apparently some time next year its mandatory anyway or so ive been told.
|
just to bad you hafta use your email address to log in to wow after the merge, mines a tad long lol

Well, I just took the plunge and don't have any problems (so far ). Got my battle bots on 13 toons spread over 2 realms. Hope this reassures you some, Silenia.
|
BTW: If you create a new character on any realm, your new character will receive a battle bot in the mailbox, even if it didn't exist when you first redeemed at the site.
