Chatbox out of place

1 Attachment(s)
So, I assume my chat box might be a little misplaced. And it is kind of in the way of everything else. How would I resize and move the chatbox back to its normal place?

Do you have any other chat mods installed? Something is interfering with nUI's ability to manage the chat frame.

I haven't nui is the only addon I have installed. Or so I believe..

*scratches head*

If you do a '/nui rl' does it still not move?

Are you getting any error messages?

mrdj204 04-05-09 01:11 PM

No error messages, nothing, I did /nui rl like 500 times, nothing happens. Could I have installed Nui wrong?

Although I think the installation is pretty straight forward...

Can you go to the character selection screen in the WoW login and make sure you don't have any other mods enabled? Try enabling only nUI and logging in and see if the chat frame works then.

Its the only mod there. And its got a check in the checkbox.

Well, the only thing I can think of at this point would be to unlock the chat frame and then move and resize it to sit where it is supposed to be and lock it back down again. It should stay there after that.

mrdj204 04-05-09 02:12 PM

How exactly would I do that?

spiel2001 04-05-09 02:23 PM

Mouse over the top left of the chat frame, slightly above it, and the "Settings" tab will appear. There's an option in that tab to "Lock" or "Unlock" the frame. Make sure it is unlocked.

You can then use the settings tab to drag the frame around the screen and you can grab the edges and corners of the frame to size it, as well. So once it's unlocked, move it onto the lower left of the dashboard where it is supposed to be and then size it to fit in the area set aside for the frame.

Once you have it where you want it, go back to the settings tab and lock it back down.

There's also an option on the settings tab to set the background color... I recommend clicking that and making your chat frame background fully transparent so that it blends into the dashboard like it is supposed to.

it happened to me too, specially when i try to create another chat frame, or even when i move the chat frame on an alt.

Usually draging it back to it's spot solves the problem.

mrdj204 04-05-09 06:04 PM

It doesn't come up, the only things that will appear when I hover anywhere in the chatbox are the 4 side buttons.

Okay... you have something very broken.

Exit WoW and rename your "WTF" folder to "WTF.saved" and then log back into WoW... what happens then?

Ok. I renamed the WTF folder, watched the amazing Cinematic again, logged in, and got two error messages.

The First:
Attachment 2438

I click ok, then I get this error, which won't go away no matter how many times I click ok.

I guess at least I'm getting error messages now...

Xrystal 04-05-09 09:06 PM

Hmm thats very strange. Just had a quick gander in the ChatFrame code and that line refers to the window number and I am sure they don't number from 0 and it is hardcoded to start from 1 anyway.

Somewhere along the line the variable being used is being reset for some reason. I'm sure that Scott will figure it out now though.

spiel2001 04-05-09 11:11 PM

The only way that error could possibly occur would be if you have no chat frames which would be virtually impossible if you have no WTF folder. Something is very broken.

I'm going to ask you to humor me and follow the instructions in this FAQ: http://www.wowinterface.com/forums/s...ad.php?t=21716

If you are still getting this error after doing that, please take a screenshot of your display immediately after logging in and post the entire screenshot unmodified so I can have a look at the entire layout and see if I can spot anything that's out of place.

I did what you said, reinstalled it and all. And this is the screen I got as soon as I logged in.

This is fun xD

neuralassassin 04-07-09 05:39 PM

Hmmmm seems the number on the bag bar has been enlarged as well.
Check and make sure you have not changed the ui scale in the options menu for wow also, have you ever changed the font values for wow I remember reading about a way to do this probably a long shot but

Ah just thought of something do you run vista by chance?

spiel2001 04-08-09 07:36 AM

I posted this in one other place as well... I'm not sure what the source of this sudden new issue is (I think this is three people who are reporting it now?) but see if this resolves it...

1) Log into WoW and at the character selection screen, open the "AddOns" option and disable all of your mods

2) Exit WoW and rename "WTF" to "WTF.saved"

3) Log back in to WoW and load your character, then log back out to the character selection screen

4) At the character selection screen, select "AddOns" again and enable nUI, then log back in on your toon.

Does the chat frame work correctly now?

Tholdenar 04-08-09 05:42 PM

I have the same issue, followed these instructions to the letter, and still get the same results.

I am running Vista, as someone mentioned before...could that be the issue?
