Interesting thread idea. I'll bite:

Music: FooBar2000 or AIMP 2
Video: CCCP (Codec Pack) and Media Player Classic
Bittorrent: μTorrent
Browser: Firefox 3, Beta 5 /w extensions
IRC: mIRC
IM: Pidgin
Graphics: The GIMP for most things, Paint Shop Pro 7 (an oldie but goodie) for others
Desktop Customization: Windowblinds, IconPackager, RocketDock
Office: OpenOffice.org 2.1
AddOns updater: jWoWUpdater
Others: 7ZIp, Notepad++, Comodo Firewall Pro

Most of my normal collection of everyday use applications are open source in nature.

Ubuntu 8.4 just finished downloading and needs to get burned to CD so my list is going to change.

Eh, whats the point of using VLC with CCCP if VLC doesn't use any codecs in it/filters?

Likely because VLC can play just about everything that you throw at it. I keep VLC around in the rare occasion that I encounter something that MPC or Zoom Player (w CCCP) can't handle.

Hmmm I was going to ask "did you get a discount on Photoshop and Illustrator, cause that's like 1,2k there", then I saw you hidden comment grayed out (trick which by the way does not work when using WoWI-Light theme)...

cccp-project.net right

I've been using it for a year in a half or so and it's widely surported by people who watch fansubs...

if anything is saying thats a bad program then it needs to be obliterated imo.
((it's a codec package nothing more or less.))
