Freezing/frame rate drop

It seems that whenever I am questing in a Pandaren zone and I have my carbonite minimap out, the game suddenly freezes for about five seconds, and then drops my framerate to about 5. As soon as I close the minimap, the game is fine. I seem to be able to use all of the other parts of carbonite. The problem started with 5.1. I had this problem with the live version, so I gave the beta a try, and I still have the same issue. Thoughts?

Edit: I have not tried questing in other zones, but I do not have the issue in capital cities (SW, Org, etc). Also, I am not getting any lua errors

First things first:
Carbonite has one map and it is either maximized (large, like Blizzards World Map) or minimized (minimap sized but NOT the minimap). Blizzard gives us three maps: The Minimap (found in the upper right corner of your screen), the World Map (the big map) and the Zone (sometimes referred to as the Battleground) Map. A technicality, to be sure, but it occasionally helps to use the correct terms when explaining something.

Is your Carbonite installation up to date? Latest Live Version is 5.059 while the latest BETA Version is 5.1.0.2.

There also used to be a conflict between Carbonite and Blizzards Battleground Map (the one you open with "shift + M" by default) which caused a frame rate plummet. If you have that map open, try closing it and see if your FPS come back up.

One other thing: Unless you are running Carbonite as your only addon (and I mean ONLY addon), the only way to really tell if Carbonite is causing the issue is to test by disabling (NOT deleting) all of your addons EXCEPT Carbonite. If the problem continues, then the problem is being caused by Carbonite. If it does not continue with Carbonite as the ONLY enabled addon, then there is a conflict between Carbonite and another addon.
