oUF P3lim - Official thread

I am closing the comment section on my layout because its way too much offtopic rant going on there.

Please use this thread if you want to discuss something about my layout.

NOTE:
This is a personal layout, I will not add features, help modifying it or answer any questions that has nothing to do with it.

If you got a bug, submit it to my issue tracker linked on the addon page itself, not here!

Arrowsong 04-08-09 07:42 AM

Well, I'm not sure if my question on the other thread helped in upsetting you. My appologies if it did. So, as you have asked us to do, I will ask it in this thread.

I was just wondering how to show % HP versus the current "-hp (%)". Both at full and when taking dmg.

On a side note p3lim. Maybe you see it as a bad thing, all of us asking for help "tweaking" YOUR personal layout, but... we are asking because we like YOUR layout... just some minor things people would like to tailor to their needs.

Personally I would find it "flattering" but then again, I'm not you, nor can I write .lua code. Anyways, enjoy the day.

I will come with a update soon now that replaces mostly everything with tags, this will make things easier for you.

Arrowsong 04-08-09 08:32 AM

Thanks for the quick reply.

Sounds like a great idea and I'm sure it will ease the amount of questions people have for you.

If I may make a suggestion. If these are your own tags that you create, would it be possible to add a .txt file or commented out section in your .lua with a list of possible tags?

Again, just a suggestion.

Thanks p3lim. We really DO appreciate all you bring to the community as well as the help you give us all.

You find a list of default tags in the elements\tags.lua file in oUF

P3lim, I've been using your unit frames for about 6 months now, and I must say they are the best I've used to date. Thanks for putting them out there.

Wimpface 04-10-09 03:32 PM

I might throw a word like that in aswell then so you get an extra boost at self confidence, so you keep the unit frames updated!

While i may not use your addon, i constantly download it to check what you've improved in every update and your code is a huge inspiration for my own layout(s).

Keep up the good work p3lim, you're one of the best coders out there and you always throw a helping hand out.

If i had the cash and the resources to do so, i'd donate to you right away and if you're still around in about a year, i swear i will.

Regards,
Wimpelimp.

Error

Rebuilding my UI from scratch and decided to switch from Pitbull to oUF with your layout. Deleted my Interface and WTF folders, downloaded the newest version of oUF and oUF_P3lim, extracted to interface folder.

Both addons checked and up-to-date on the Character load screen. When I log into the game everything looks default, no sign of the layout anywhere. Upon reloading my UI I get the following error:

Interface\AddOns\oUF_P3lim\oUF_P3lim.lua :10: attempt to call global 'LibtStub' (a nil value)

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

EDIT: Installed LibSharedMedia-3.0, it works now. It's only listed as an optional dependency, but it won't work without it for some reason.

Thanks alot for your addons, P3lim.
Been using oUF_P3lim for quite a loong time now. Tryed other unitframes but always end up going back to yours :)

I'm using PerfectRaid for my raid frames. Do you have a suggestion for party frames to go with oUF_P3lim?

I use blizzard ones myself :p

Its only temporarily until oUF gets vehicle support for party frames.
When it does I will make em.

After updating to your most recent update my pretty black/gray bars Im use to are no longer. The are now white/light gray. Is there any way that I can change them back to the previous look that you have had for so long?

This is what it looks like now. I have not changed except the location of the bars. The bars in your preview pics for the mod is how they use to look.

Waverian 08-10-09 03:26 PM

That's the default texture & color when a texture isn't set (or is set but the file doesn't exist). Make sure you have an oUF_P3lim\media\minimalist.tga file. Also make sure you have these two lines in your oUF_P3lim.lua file:

Code:

local texture = [=[Interface\AddOns\oUF_P3lim\media\minimalist]=]

...

self.Health:SetStatusBarTexture(texture)

sisonsa 08-30-09 08:06 AM

the customsize fonts's location.

I have a question:
when I set the OUF's font size, the target's 'info'' location have a problem.it can flush left.it away in the middle.but If I do not customize the fonts size.the location is ok.

local info = self.Health:CreateFontString(nil, 'OVERLAY')
info:SetFont(fontn,13,'outline')
info:SetPoint('LEFT', self.Health, 2, -3)
info:SetPoint('RIGHT', hpvalue, 'LEFT')

this is my customize fonts size.wait for your help.

You need to adjust the width of the xpbar for the pet.

Yo there! Nice layout you have made. Could you tell me how to resize my portait? My current code for portrait

Code:

                self.Portrait = CreateFrame('PlayerModel', nil, self)
        self.Portrait.type = '3D'
        self.Portrait:SetAlpha(.50)
        self.Portrait:SetPoint('TOPLEFT', self.Health, 'TOPLEFT', 0, -0.5)
        self.Portrait:SetPoint('BOTTOMRIGHT', self.Health, 'BOTTOMRIGHT', 0.5, -0.5)
        self.Portrait:SetHeight(Wont work)
        self.Portrait:SetWidth(Wont work)

How to increase level of text and change font/color of it?

Thanks!

I've tried to add oUF Totembar to your layout, but i only get the background, no bars indicating which totems are down.

Please Help!

Edit: Nevermind - Turns out I had a typo. How did i miss that....

I love your layout of oUF and have some basic understanding of lua coding. I have one small problem however. I would like to completely remove the cast bar from your layout as I use ACB for its latency module. Could you show me how to make the necessary modifications to the code so the player/target cast bars are gone?
Current version of code I'm using: 30200.2-Beta

Thank you for your help!

p3lim 10-23-09 06:55 PM

Remove any line that contains the word 'self.Castbar'

Ferous 10-30-09 01:29 AM

Hey :) I love your lay out and and I thank you for it :P

I wanted to ask one question: I can't seem to find out the name of the oUF frames so I can parent my panels to it. Am I missing something? It keeps coming back as nil.

Thanks in advance! :)

p3lim 10-30-09 05:14 AM

They have no global name references, but you could access them through oUF's global variable.

oUF.units.player
oUF.units.target
oUF.units.focus
etc, you get the drift.

I am using Clique on them just perfectly. And if they don't, then its a oUF issue, not a layout issue

Soulofsin_007 11-10-09 09:25 AM

Edit: Nevermind, re-read it again right after my post, thanks p3lim.

gia 12-05-09 03:24 AM

I've added player debuffs in my own slightly customized oUF_P3lim, but they are getting filtered by the new customfilter function.

I'd like to keep the whitelist for buffs but let the debuffs be unfiltered, how would I go about doing that? This is probably really easy but I'm quite clueless with lua, etc. I'm just hacking your layout a bit.

Any help would be appreciated.

Here is what I have for reference: http://pastey.net/129802

Just wondering if you had an eta on when your next release is going to be? It looks like you've been doing quite a bit of cleanup lately on git. I really love your unit frames. I haven't found a base as nice as yours to build my own frames. I'd like to release my modifications pretty soon, but I'd rather wait until you make your next release so I can take advantage of the new changes.

Should be released at the same time as oUF 1.4

Hey there,

My LUA knowledge is very limited ( just as my english skills, sorry for that ) but general I was able to customise addons according to my taste but now I have a problem:

I just can't find the line where I can change the font size, it's just to small for me. I tried to just switch the font-file with another font... the font changes, but it's still very small.

Do I have to add lines for that?
Would be great if anyone out there can tell me. :)

If you are using the version from WoWI you can open the XML file and look for a number (should be 8 or 9 or something).
Change that to whatever you'd like.

hey p3lim,

first off, love the UFs, always have, and always will, i am having some light trouble in the latest version however, 30300.3-Beta, in most of your previous versions there was a border on the auras (buffs+debuffs) i have tried recrating this;

button.overlay:SetTexture([=[Interface\AddOns\oUF_P3lim\media\border]=])

into the "local function createAura(self, button, icons)" section (and of course by placing the "border.tga" into the correct folder) however, there is no change in game to the auras.

Any help from anyone, is greatly apprecaited, thankyou

I removed the border completely, if you really still want it you can use 30200.1-Beta

Just swapped over to oUF from Pitbull4 and I must say that I'm enjoying the challenge of recreating my old frames by using your layout as a base. I've pretty much managed to work out the basics of sizing and moving buffs and frames but there are a few places where I don't understand it all quite yet.

For example:
Code:

if(unit == 'target') then
...
self.Debuffs:SetHeight(20 * 0.97)
...
self.Debuffs.size = 20 * 0.97

Why are the Heights multiplied here when for the rest of the layout the height is set to exactly 20?

Very old part of my code, but it was the easiest way to find out what scaling I wanted for my debuffs (to make 10 of them fit within the width of the frame).

I'm re-doing the whole layout for 1.4, a snapshot of that work can be found on github for those who want.

Hi, just wanted to say that I use this layout and I love it, thanks for making it.

I've been inspired by you and others to try to learn how to make my own personal addons. Tearing apart your code to see how you did it has been instrumental in helping me figure out How Stuff Works, so I wanted to thank you for that, too.

Take care :)

Been using your layout recently and even more recently started using a Grid + Clique combo for my Priest.

Just wondering if it's possible to disable the ClickCastFrames on Player, Target, etc. I see that there's the option to disable it for oUF_Perfect since I'm also using that.

That has nothing to do with my layout, but rather the oUF core and/or Clique.

Doesnt Clique have options for this?

You decide the name of the frames. It has all to do with your layout.

Clique has options to disable on player frames etc, but no matter what I disable it will always cast on the oUF frames.
