possible BossPanel Name change
 

In its current state, BossPanel has a rather awkward name.

It doesn't roll off the tongue nicely, but more than that, the "Boss" part is just confusing, especially if you are talking about an addon that deals with raid bosses or whatnot.

If I were to change it, sooner would be better than later.

I want to keep the "Panel" part of the name, because it is pretty clear.

Some possible names that people have suggested:

<other greek letter>Panel
NightPanel

What are everyone's thoughts, and what would be a good name for it?

MasterPanel

I really *love* boss panel, it's the best of its class... and by now, maybe you shouldn't change the name at all. I don't think it's all that confusing...

but if you are, the AcePanel suggestion makes sense...

I understand the desire to keep the Panel part, but I can't help but to continue being amused by the idea of an addon called FuBar ....

I'm for AcePanel. Ace has nothing but positive connotations and Panel clearly (well, as clear as one word can be) denotes what the add-on does. Just my two cents . . .

Classic! FuBar would be great otherwise AcePanel is good.

And who can possibly resist the fact that you'd be able to make plugins such as "SnaFu" or "KungFu".

Not to mention the amusement factor gained when you consider the coding joke as well - "Foo".

Fubar is the way to go!

I will 100% not be using AcePanel.

Ace is a utility and a platform that BP uses, BP is not part of Ace as one would consider AceGUI or other AceModules to be.

I am however considering FuBar as a strong option.

and why not use it we allready have a wtf folder :rolleyes:

it would be a good responce to a gm, atfer they tell u to delete the wtf folder, you could tell them, Hey I need to reconfig my FuBar then :rolleyes:

Anyway, I have recently started using BOSS panel, and I have to say it is a great evolution of Titan Panel. And While I agree "Ace Panel" is simple. Not everythign Ace is in Boss. Sooo maybe something more utility gauged.

FuBar is the way to go dude! Woooooooo!! lol, but yea FuBar sounds really nice. Reminds me of The Gimp's scripting language....ScriptFu.

Well, I uploaded FuBar to WoWI.

With the BossPanel folder (now a compatibility layer), everything is backwards compatible.
Despite this, I please ask for plugin authors to update as soon as you can to the new scheme.

On the site, I plan to call it FuBar (previously BossPanel) for about 2 weeks or so, then just transfer over to FuBar proper.

All the Plugins now end in Fu, e.g. AmmoFu, MoneyFu, BagFu.

Not a good idea...
 

Did you really think this through. What about all of the SavedVariable files that are now orphaned not to mention all the settings that went with them? :(

He knows about the SVs. It's not that big of a deal to setup your bars again and the rename was necessary to avoid confusion. Besides, now we're all martial arts bar masters.
