Possible? Minimap / Recount Side by side?
 

I know there is an omen/recount side by side addon...

Is it feasible to have mini map and recount side by side?

I know map issues just got fixed but I'm just curious... Those are the 2 main things I use in the lower right window.

Not a big deal. Just curious and a non critical request/suggestion.

It's possible as there is quite a bit of space left on the info panel, I've been pondering the idea of minimap/Omen/Recount.

This would move the minimap if you set someone to focus, to the Omen/Recount panel. then Omen and recount would toggle between each other based on combat.

When I start this Tuesday morning (hopfully) I'll add something to handle options like

A.) Disable focus event function so the minimap is always to the right
B.) Disable toggling of Omen and Recount and choose which one to always have.
C.) Option to have Omen and Recount side by side or have them based on
entering combat if the minimap isn't on the panel else it will revert to option B

Skada As a viable replacement?
 

In case you havent checked it out...Skada is a damage/ threat meter that is very lightweight resource wise and gives u the ability to have one pane set to dps all the time then u can set it to switch to threat when entering combat

I have been using it for about a month now and it is accurate with 50dps +- of recount and is spot on for threat with omen and like i said very lightweight resource wise...this would save A. memory and B space on the info panel and might make it easier to do what has been suggested here.

as the RL for my guild I like the aspect of dps out of combat and threat in

just my 2 cents adjusted for inflation to around .00003 :-)

FYI -- there is an Info Panel Plugin for nUI in the download section that auto-switches Recount and Omen3 based on whether you are in or out of combat, as well.

I am aware of the infopanel plugins both dual stats and stats but recount records whether is shows or not unless u disable it....I was just in AV and was using 92 megs of memory a good portion of which was nUI and recount....I understand that the ui is gonna use a lot since it basically is akin to the 70+ mods or so i used to use in my old built out of standalone mods ui but recount averages anywhere from 9megs to 11 megs of usage...by itself! Skada typically uses around 1 -2 megs under full raid conditions...keeping track of threat and dps and whatever else u want it to

and as i understand the point of the thread was if possible creating a minimap/recount infopanel......so i thought i would suggest using a different solution to the omen/recount infopanel......IMO using skada would lighten the load AND give you the option to have the above asked about minimap/dameage/threat meter in one infopanel as well as eliminating the need to have the infopanel plugin for dualstats unless peeps wanna use recount. To each his own i guess


I have been poking around in the code for the combatlog infopanel as well as the omen and recount infopanel lua...I may attempt (badly and that should scare the hell out people) to create my own plugin using the info that has been posted on these forums. of course i will not release anything for nUI without the authors express consent. Maybe i can actually get it to work...seems pretty straight forward

First of all... I have no issue with using Skada at all, I just wasn't sure if you were aware of the other plugin. And if you need any help with the plugin, feel free to yell and I'll do my best to lend a hand.

Thanx spiel I may have come off a bit defensive my apologies...

This is a fantastic addon so don't take my suggestions as knocking or nitpicking i just know from my experience with piecing together my own ui's that add memory usage was a big concern for me even tho I am on a high end custom built comp :-)

maybe there is a bit of holdover from those days

But I went back and looked at just nUI addon memory usage and like i said previously its usage is about right for a ui imo.....

tried and failed horribly with a lua for skada last night.....really all i did was take the recount.lua outta nui/layouts/default/infopanels and tried to convert it to skada. i basically replaced all instances of RECOUNT....Recount and rframes with SKADA....Skada....and sframes....

didnt see anything and when i used the infopanel button it didnt even come up.....hopelessly lost now but i will dig back into it and see where i may have gone wrong

rofl I use skada too at the moment and would be good to have it slot into place too. I'll let you have that project - rofl.

By all means Xrystal conjure up an infopanel...if i do it it will be ugly as sin and i will pull out the lil remaining hair i have on my head

I know just enuff lua to be dangerous and would prolly end up with an infopanel for homeshopping network or something :-)

i thought it would be easy to do but alas my true huntardness is showing

rofl, I've not looked at the skada code myself and the only info panel plugin Ive done is for a chat window which isn't the same as that.

I did however take a look at the recount plugin a while back to see how it worked as I was thinking of dragging the carbonite quest watcher there.

From what I recall it looks like the plugin calls the various addons functions as required (assuming they're available outside of the addon itself) to position, size and lock the frame inside the panel.

Theoretically that would be the case with skada but next time I'm in code browsing mode I'll take a look at the skada one to see how that works.

If I can ever get my head out of the elephant's butt known as "changing everything I've done for the last 10 months so Bliz doesn't sue me" I'll see if I can't put together a Skada plugin... but I have no idea how long it's gonna take me to extract myself from the stink I'm in atm.
