chat edit box problem
 

Not sure if this is nUI or something else, as I haven't had a chance to test it yet. I have chat broken down into a couple of tabs: general, guild/party on one toon. I noticed that if I'm looking at the guild/party tab, I can't see the chat edit box — it only shows up when I'm on the general tab. I have no chat mods installed. I do have carbonite, vuh-do, and their info panel plugins. nUI 5.06.26, btw, and everything is as up to date as I can get it.:cool:

Are you using the IM or Classic style chat frames?

I've noticed that myself and could be the chat style setting cos I did initially have the setting changed. But just tested it now on both settings and it is working consistently the same.

It might be this sticky channel problem I have been hearing about but I'll have to see if I can see a pattern to it.

IM Style. Can't remember if I tried it with classic style or not.

Okay... I'm going to be spending most of this weekend pulling the aura code into the alpha for nUI6, but I will spend some time on nUI5 bugs and see if I can find this one.

I just discovered I've been in Classic mode. Switched to IM mode, and now the chat edit box appears where it's supposed to in tabs later than the first one, except for RealID conversations with two other people (which seems to be the most you can have), where it appears at the bottom of the chat window.

So even with the 5.06.27 update, you're still getting the chat box at the bottom? I would have expected that to have been fixed.

I think it's where the RealID conversations are alot different from the regular chat messages. I don't plan to use it myself so it's hard for me to test it.

No, sorry, I'm still on v. 26. Gonna d/l 27 now. Guess I'll take a minute to log in and see if it's still a problem.

Didn't get a chance to test the realid stuff, but I did test multiple chat tabs in both IM and classic mode, and no problems with the edit box, now that I've upgraded to nUI 5.06.27. Thanks Scott, you da man!:D

Yes, I just saw that. If I get a chance tomorrow I'll try disabling nUI and see if the add more button appears. I expect it will.

Had an interesting problem this afternoon. The up/down arrows and so on which are on the right side of the chat window suddenly moved upwards a bit (which is where they were when I was having problems originally, so I disabled everything (it went back to the right place), enabled only nUI (no problems), then slowly enabled the rest of my addons, expecting to find one of them was the problem. Nope. Got 'em all back on, and still no problem.:eek:

I've been experinceing this too, most times chat loads right when I first load the game but, when I enter an instance the window breaks; the buttons are moved up and, I can only read 1 line of text at a time. Sometimes if I log and reload it fixes it sometimes it stays the same though. IDK if it's on chat or IM style, I've yet to mess with it, lol, but I may try and see if it helps any. I did turn on chat bubbles which is fine when I'm dps on my mage, makes me dizzy when I tank with my pali or DK though...

Sounds like the attack of the random start up order. Whenever I sit down and test this it never seems to happen. But then recently it hasn't happened much if at all. A reloadUI has always resolved the problem, for me at any rate.

Chat box disapears
 

i have a problem every time i minimize my screen the text box disappears and i have to reload.. any ideas?

The edit box isn't permanent if you are talking about that. Clicking on the chat frame should show the edit box for that chat frame.

just installed the latest nui + and now im missing my chat tabs only one i can see is the general tab

my other 2 tabs are just gone , even when i make a new chattab i just doesnt show up.

Yeah, just spotted this myself.

Thankfully my Chat plugins aren't affected (whew). But not sure what is causing it yet but must be something to do with your recent chat frame changes Scott.


Edit: Although, on one of my characters I have all 10 chat windows up and running ( to test my addons ) and she doesn't lose any of those.

I had the same thing happen to me, a /nui rl fixed it.

Latest update. As above user when I login I only see the general tab. Upon executing /nui rl the chat tabs come back, however if you try to unlock a tab it then fatal errors wow to desktop.

Update #2

I use the latest version of Prat to capture URL's and format the editbox etc. With prat enabled the above problem of crashing to desktop goes away however the initial problem of only seeing general on login persists.
