WTF Free UnitFrame
 

Hi,

I am using SUF from long time and I am really happy with it.
I never have had a problem and everything was fine.

But now I like the idea to find an Unitframe than can be free from any WTF dependencies.

I try to explain better.
If I want to share my settings and interface the combo SUF / BT4, correctly based on WTF variables is no so easy to migrate from my account to others.

I have resolved the part of the problem related of the action bars using rActionBarStyler ( with rActionButtonStyler ) because it uses a config.lua and so there is no WTF involved at all.
The config is common for every pg and it is fine for me.

But now I have the problem of the unitframe.
Any ideas ? Probably OUF should be the right choice ...
I really not need so much something like the screenshot I post :-)

While not technically WTF free, with Discord Unit Frames you can use Dreadlordes extractor to create a Custom.lua file from your current profile that can be shared with others, they just drop it into their DUF addon folder and select the custom profile. No messing with WTF files.

There may be some similar mechanism for SUF to share settings.

If you don't want to use a etc folder to store setting then really the unitframes tut allow you to edit via the lua files are your best choice.

So really most oUF layouts and whoaunitframes are all that come to mind for me.

I have never tried this, but according to the SUF page, there is an export feature.

Exportable Layouts: If you have a layout, or your friend has a layout you want to try out you can export/import SUF layouts by going to /suf -> Layout Manager

I don't want say here that a WTF FREE GUI is better than a GUI based on addons that use a classic approch of saving variable as blizzard directive.

Even if now I really like this different approach of configuring addons, I want to clarify better why I need to have a UnitFrame wtf free.

Basically I don't need to share my interface or publish it with adults :-)
I have two little sons that are beginning to play wow and they are very low age (7 and 9) so they enjoy a lot to create a pg, play a few levels and then delete it.

Now begins to understand better the mechanincs and have a dk (60) and a 90 (hunter and warlock so are easier to play for the pet) with the boosted pg with WOD.

The problem is everytime they create a new pg BT4 / SUF wanted to use a default profile name-server.
And a simple profile import is not so confortable to automate.

For the actionbars the zork solution of rActionBarStyler if fantastic so much that I begin to use also for myself.

For unitframe every solutions that imply a file extracted and put in the addon folder like Discord Unit Frames or something like OUF where you have to edit your layout is, for me for this specific case, much better.

Try out Phanx AceDB-DefaultMod to auto load the default profil for SUF.
Also take a look into my UI - I think its easy to install even if its based on WTF.

Yes, I'd highly recommend this. :) Given the description of your situation, you don't need any different settings for different characters (a "real" player might want different settings for melee DPS vs. healing, for example) so you should just be able to configure your "Default" profile the way you want it and be good to go.

No a "real" player has a setup that works good for both specs :p

But my warlock doesn't need huge raid frames with information about incoming heals and active absorbs!

I use the same unit frames for all classes/specs...

I guess I'm a real player Phanx! Even though it seems you disagree.

But your warlock needs raidframes to see whats going while she as nothing else to do but pressing one button. And ofc she needs to prepare for Soulstone :D As healer if the raidframes are small and close together you can be faster and don't have to move your mouse too much. Incoming heals and active absorbs is only luxury, you will not change your healstyle based on the Incoming heals and active absorbs. As far as I know Incoming heals don't work if a healer heals on mouseover without targets.

Two buttons. One for switching to Metamorphosis. :D
