I think you may need to rethink several of the questions in your survey. It seems to be based on the opinion that most WoW players are high school or college age. While there are undoubtedly a lot of players in that age group many of us are older, some of us much older. Personally it's been so long since I was in school I can't remember my GPA.

Also this survey seems to be very biased towards furthering many of the negative stereotypes surrounding the game and many MMORPG's (i.e. that they are addictive and negatively impact the lives of the players). I fail to see the point of this survey in all honesty. Is this for a some degree program like many of the other questionaires and interviews that have been posted here?

Perhaps you should explian in your post what exactly you are trying to confirm or disprove with your survey, and also some of your qualifications for making decisions regarding your research.

To anyone else that takes this survey consider yourself warned as to the contents of it. However the link is clean although it is on surveymonkey.com and not a .edu or similar site.

Do you hang out offline with players you meet through WoW?
Please clarify. Offline, as in off the computer? Or offline as in outside of WoW? I answered it as the latter definition. (Outside of the game, but online, is much more often than IRL since we live in different parts of the country/world.)

Also, as Othgar mentioned, there are many many many "older" players. Parents, grandparents, etc.
Quote:

My parents think I spend too much time playing WoW.
I'd need a 3rd hand to count how many years it's been since I lived with my parents.
Quote:

My girlfriend/boyfriend thinks I spend too much time playing WoW.
My husband (who plays more than I do) and I have been married for going on 8 years. I answered Not Applicable for both of these questions since they, technically, are Not Applicable.

Quote:

WITH WHOM DO YOU LIVE?
The "I live with my family" response to this question can be interpreted 2 ways. If you are a child/young person living with your family (ie, parents/siblings/etc.) that is a different situation entirely than an older adult living with their own family (ie, spouse/children/etc.) As such, the answers to this question on your survey will not be an accurate representation of those surveyed, depending on how you choose to interpret this choice. Honestly, I have no idea if I should pick "with family" or "with boyfriend/girlfriend" for this question.

Quote:

ARE YOU CURRENTLY ATTENDING SCHOOL?

** If you have a degree, please, mark "Yes, I study in college"
The word "currently" means right now, at this moment. I should answer no to this question. But you are telling me to answer yes. Also, if you mix these results from your survey (attending college and graduated from college) then you, again, will not have an accurate representation of the population of your survey. You will be left to assume things about the results - this is never a good thing.

Quote:

WHAT IS YOUR GPA (grade-point average)?
WoW wasn't even out yet when I graduated college. I can tell you what my last GPA *was*, but not what it *is*. Along with the previous question (having someone say they are still in college even if they had graduated 10, 15, 40 years ago) stating their grade point average (whatever they remember it to be) will give your survey skewed results as to how WoW affects someone's GPA. Again, this is not an accurate survey question.

----------------

I highly recommend that you review the purpose of this survey. What is your study based on? What is your hypothesis? How can you get accurate results that will NOT skew the data in any such way. Skewed data is the #1 reason why many people take studies done by someone looking for a specific answer with a grain of salt. You see what you want to see. The data comes out slanted the way you want it to. Your questions need to be clear, concise and relevant to your study.

Yes, this survey seems completely pointless. Based on the questions asked, I think you'd get pretty much the same results had you asked only two questions: "Do you feel that you spend too much time playing WoW?" and "Do you feel that playing WoW has a negative impact on your life?".

Also, the level of English fluency displayed in the survey questions feels very low. If you're going to create a survey for an English-language audience, you should run your questions by someone fluent in English to check that they sound okay. No native English speaker would ever say "Yes, I study in the high school", for example; they would say "I attend high school" or "I go to high school" or "I'm in high school".

And, as Seerah pointed out, many of your questions are irrelevant for adults over 25.

I don't think I've ever taken a survey where I've answered "Not Applicable" so many times. :D

I instinctively clicked no :)

I'm actually doubting the OP will ever come back after that (only on the entire site) post.

Thank you so much for your constructive criticism!!

Now I know what to improve next time. :)

If there is someone, who haven't filled in a form, please help me in my survey and fill the form in:

Generally people will be more willing to fill out a survey (or take some other action) if you explain what the purpose of the survey is. For example, are you a student? Which university? What field of study? What kind of project are you working on? How will the information collected by the survey help your project?
