assassination?

I couldn't give you any links, but if you want to dish out damage, really high end damage, go combat daggers. The build is simply amazing for 5 mans, and it focuses more on warrior-like DPS (running around and bashing stuff) than stealth-based builds. Assassination is great, I'll give you that (I'm 41/20/0), but it is geared towards endgame raiding and PvP. The reason I haven't mentioned Combat Swords is because I never like giving out cookie cutter builds, but then again, if you like swords and that extra swing now and again, try it out (have a few gold to respec and play around).

Hope this helps

Here is how I went - this covers up to lvl 66 so far - Build

It may look like a hodge podge of points, but I still outdo most everyone dmg wise, including mages and most warlocks. For poison I prefer just instant poison for the extra dmg. So far this works very well for 5 man to 25 man raids, and allows me to do the DPS while still being able to sneak past or sap almost anything.

Of course since the last patch where they changed the rogue skill of sapping to never take you out of stealth disapointed me. I kind of liked having that chance to get caught. They nerfed it the wrong way I think. :)

I like combat daggers too, and I'm not too big on cookie cutter builds either. At lvl 70, I'm 17/44/0. It's way more about sustained than burst damage, but I find that it really rocks for PvE.

I would probably go Sword spec for leveling. Since you will be doing a lot of soloing for a while until you get up in levels. Once you can get consistant instance groups(past level 60) then go daggers.

Im currently 70 using 15/41/5 and combat dagger.

Another idea is employing a weapon-switching addon or macro. I used to open with daggers, then switch to sword/dagger for dps. Another option is keeping a sword in your offhand.

I see that this is an older thread. I'm gonna bump it and try to get some informative discussion and comparison of the 3 Rogue Talents.

I'm a 70 Dwarf Rogue specced at 31-6-24. I quik-swap dags and swords to suit the occasion and I am routinely in 1st or 2nd for party dmg. Mainly running instances and I gotta admit to getting pwnd in PvE... guidance in that area is appreciated.
