nui skin
 

hii, i got a skin idea for nui+ that ive been thinking off, but am not good at makeing skins, so am gonna write my idea here and i hope maybe someone who knows how to make one can make me one.



my idea is this. use the backgrond color and skin on gloss black with blue or orange ghost flames.

Anyone here have the skills to take a shot at that idea?

I would love to try but I need a get started here kind of thing. I used to make skins for slimbrowser. I would love to try and make a few for NUI.

There's a couple of tutorials on how to make the images at the top of this forum in the stickies. You'll also find quite a few posts on the subject in the first couple of pages of posts in this forum.

As for the plugin code, you can grab any one of my existing skins and copy that code to make your own version. Just rename it to something unique for the skin you're making and replace the graphics in my version with the graphics for your version.

If you have specific questions once you're working at it, feel free to ask.

So can someone send me a template complete image of the general shape? This way I don't have to calculate the dimensions of the transparencies and the raised bars in the middle again since I know someone already has based on the art already submitted following the same outline.

I'd have to do some digging to find mine... they're off in backup archives who knows where.

In any event... the dashboard is 2560x512 cut up into 5 sections 512x512 square. From there, the shape is pretty much up to you. There is a nifty java app that converts PNG to BLP and visa versa you can use to just convert the BLP files from one of the existing background to get your template. I think the name might even be PNG2BLP but I may be wrong.... Google is your friend ~smile~

I noticed that when I tried to create a new skin the interface loads but my images don't show up. Is there a way to debug what's going wrong?

Make sure the skin is enabled in your AddOns screen (from the "AddOns" button at the character selection screen).

Make sure the paths are all correct, too, in the script file (the .lua file) and note that you have to use two \\ for the path elements, not just one.

Check, check and check. Weird thing. If I take a complete image and then I slice it to make a skin it doesn't work. I have already made a few skins that have individual images now and if I edit them. It works. I don't get it.

I double checked the cut images sizes and that's not it.

I have included a zip file of one that is working (nUI_Art_Cobblestone_Dark_Round) and that I just submitted into this database and one that is not working (nUI_Art_FlamingHeart).

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated and I will bang out even more of these things!
