Donwloaded new version

Hello,
I just downloaded nUI(dev) 3.1, and now when I go in game I have the bliz ui. I have deleted and reinstalled the new version and nothing. However, i still have the old skin installed, but they will not work because of a dipendency issue. If anyone as and Idea I am all ears.

thank you for your time.

I'm going to guess that you are running on a Windows Vista machine and installing nUI in the wrong directory. Search your hard drive for Blizzard_BattlefieldMinimap.pub and see what path it is installed in... that will be the correct one to install nUI in as well.

Thank you I will try it, and you are right I am on Vista.

Yea if your getting a dependency issue for a skin then nUI is not installed because the skins only need nUI to work there are no other dependency's. You may have to check the load out of date add-ons box on the character selection screen for some of the skins to load though after you get nUI installed right.

Ok I must really be lost here. I check the folder were Blizzard_BattlefieldMinimap.pub was located. The new version is there, so I don't know what to do. I delete the Wtf folder, but not all addons. Maybe I missed something, if you all have anymore ideas I am up for it.

Thank you

The move that Lich King put in place with vista users didn't remove the old copy if you opted to move it to the users\public\games folder.

Do a general search for wow.exe and I am betting you will find 2 copies with one being the path mentioned above.

Did the pub file you checked for get listed twice or once ? If twice then perhaps the second was users\public ?

Its the only thing I can think of at the moment as that is the only time I have had that sort of problem.

When you searched for the Blizzard_BattlefieldMinimap.pub file... what path(s) did it show up on (exactly) and what path are you installing nUI on (exactly) ?

Right click over the Wow shortcut icon on your desktop and choose "Open file location". That's where your game is installed, and also where you will find the correct Interface folder to install your addons.

First, Wow is installed in public games. I right clicked it and choose to open file location. Second, when I searched my hard drive for Blizzard_BattlefieldMinimap.pub. I get a Microsoft publication Doc. However, when I take the pub of the end I get 5 loctaions. There are as follows:
1.Addons c:\users\public\games\World of Warcraft\interface
2.LUA File is a saved Varible
3.C:\users\Public\Games\World of Warcraft\interface\addons\Blizzard_BattlefieldMinimap. ( and it says its a short cut in Microsoft Office).
4. Is in Blizzard_BattlefieldMinimap C:\users\Public\Games\World of Warcraft\Interface\Addons
5.Is Microsfot Office Publisher Doc again.

I am installing it in the location that comes up when I right click the game to show file location.

Both numbers 3 and 4 are short cuts.

Furthermore, I down loaded the lite from Wowmatrix to see were that went, and if it would come up in game and it did. It didnt work, but I knew it wouldnt but at least I seen it.

I Hope this helps, and I sorry for any trouble I have caused you all.

Thank you.

Okay, now the next question is. Are you saying you are putting the new version of nUI in

C:\users\Public\Games\World of Warcraft\interface\addons\

The interface and addons folders may need to have its first letter capitalized but maybe not being windows.

spiel2001 04-23-09 04:21 PM

Yeah... the path you should be installing to looks like it's C:\users\Public\Games\World of Warcraft\Interface\Addons to me. Is that where you installed the nUI+ Development version? If so, there should be a directory C:\users\Public\Games\World of Warcraft\Interface\Addons\nUI and it should have the sub directories "Bars", "Integration", "Layouts", "Main", "Plugins", "Units" and so on.

Yes?

RichG 04-23-09 05:09 PM

First to answer Xrystal, yes I am. Is that the wrong one?

Second, yes Spiel that is correct when I go to that path I have nUI_5.02.05_Dev. Then when I click on that folder I have an nUI folder with everything you mentioned. I hope this helps, and thank you both for your time.

Xrystal 04-23-09 05:34 PM

Hmm, now thats weird unless you have an icon running from another folder entirely. And its ticked in your addon list ? Or not appearing at all there ?

Right there is the problem.

You have to unpack the nUI file from the ZIP file... WoW does not read zipped files for AddOns.... move the "nUI" directory out of the "nUI_5.02.05_Dev" folder into C:\users\Public\Games\World of Warcraft\Interface\Addons so that you have the exact path C:\users\Public\Games\World of Warcraft\Interface\Addons\nUI

The point is you learned something, and next time someone has a problem with Addons you may be the one to answer their question.
