Massive AddOn Author Mists of Pandaria Beta Key Give-Away!
 

As Ghostcrawler recently mentioned, Blizzard is hoping to enable AddOns in the Mists of Pandaria™ Beta shortly. And as you can always count on, we’re taking care of you guys. We’re starting to give out beta keys now so that you can have at least a few days to play before it’s time to get down to work on updating your AddOns.

This is not a contest! Whether using US or EU client, if you are an AddOn author that hosts with us and you have been keeping your AddOns current, you are eligible for a key!

Once they have been enabled and you get the chance to get your AddOn ready for beta testing in the expansion, upload it to our Mists of Pandaria™ Beta download category and then be sure to check back in our Mists of Pandaria™ Beta forums for possible feedback.

Your Beta Key will be shown under your tracking number on the sign up confirmation page as they are applied so please check back often! We will post news on our community page regarding what range of tracking ID's have been assigned keys. We will also be keeping our social networking pages updated, so you can keep track of what's going on from there as well. You will not be contacted when your key is assigned.

Mists of Pandaria™ Beta Author guilds

The guilds are set up on US (Lost Isles) and EU (Mekkatorque). Same guild names for both realms:

Alliance == Players vs AddOns
Horde == AddOns vs Players

I doubt the demand will be as great this time around considering that the Annual Pass included early beta access.

Some of us weren't allowed to use the annual pass because of the unforgivable sin of not living in the US...

Hmm, I got it okay and I've always been living in the UK since I first started my account 7+ years ago. I got a US account and address showing as UK. Brothers got theirs for their EU accounts similarly.

Not everyone wants to pay for a year at a time, though. I only pay for a month at a time, and once the payment goes through, cancel my subscription so I can just let it lapse if I'm not playing, rather than wasting money on something I'm not using. I think I've logged into the game twice in the last month, and both times it was only to do addon maintenaince. My account has been active less time this year than it's been inactive.

Pretty much this. The only reason I would have annual passed was for Diablo 3, which turned out to.. well I'm just not going to talk about that.

I didn't pay for a year at a time for the Annual Pass, you just had to commit to pay for a year. I kept my monthly payments up. When the bank stopped them thinking they were fraudulent I simply updated the account with the bank details again ( the bank wipes it all out ) and everything was fine.

Reason I did it ? Get into the beta, free game ( I played diablo 2 before wow ) and the free horsey haha

Seeing as I would have been paying for a year anyway it was no real big thing for me.

Haha, what kind of bank cancels a monthly payment that occurs in the same amount on the same day every month from the same company for months/years without you complaining about it?

Yeah, the third time in the row they did it I pointed out it was a regular payment I had made for the last 7 years and surely it should have realised it was an okay payment. I delicately pointed out to allow the 2 accounts I pay for to go through and only alert me if more than that happen in any one month ... not heard a peep since ..

Nope, all set up now. If you want an invite and no one is in-game, hop into the IRC channel and see if there's anyone on there that can go in-game quick to give you an invite. :)

Addon updating
 

Right now the only updating the addon I am managing needs is for Out-of-date. Should I do that to make it "current"?

That doesn't really belong in this thread, but no, you shouldn't "update" your addon to TOC 5000x yet. If you do, then users on regular servers will have to check "Load out of date addons" in order to use your addon. Better just to add a note on your download telling beta players (who are the minority) to check the box, and hold off on a TOC update until after 5.0 goes live (which will be months).
