Apologies for late response here.
Ok, got a chance to go to Northrend today. as you can see by the attached image. Should at least see teh Time Lost Proto-drake route. I am getting no overlay at all. But, neither am I getting the error |
I've been using the fixed carbonite.lua and it seems the overlay appears randomly. I don't get any errors, yet when viewing the map its random whether the overlay is there or not. Sometimes it's not there then 10s later it just pops up then it works fine for a few minutes, then it vanishes again.
I couldn't figure out when it would show. |
Previous post verified.
I am finding that the "Overlay" is intermittent, or blinks. It is almost as though there is a layering issue and NPCscan.Overlay is losing the fight. Is it possible that Overlay is on the same layer as something else? |
Have been having the exact same issue since the 5.3 update. Npcscan's overlay will appear/disappear seemingly at random - very frustrating :(
|
I too was having an error with carbonite and npcscan. I replaced the .lua file with the one post from Rythal, but my experience is the same as others. The error is gone, however the overlay randomly appears and disappears. Hopefully there will be a fix soon
|
Figured I'll add one little request to npc overlay in here instead of making a while new thread.
When first loading the game the NPC legend covers the minimap. I need to maximize carbonite then unmaximize it to get rid of the legend and be able to see the whole minimap. (legend still shows on the maximized version) If nobody else gets this then nevermind, but if others do then it's a request to fix this minor annoyance. :) |
Getting this error with the new R2 version of Carbonite:
Code:
2x _NPCScan.Overlay-5.0.0.3\Modules\Carbonite-5.3.0 alpha 1 r1.lua:21: attempt to index global "NxMap1" (a nil value) It's also after I copied the new carbonite.lua to the NPCScan modules folder. I put the carbonite.lua that's linked in the top of this thread back in and now get this error: Code:
2x _NPCScan.Overlay-5.0.0.3\Modules\WorldMap.lua:92: <unnamed>:SetParent(): Wrong parent object type, expected Frame |
Strange... it works without any problems for me, and for other's I had test it before inclusion.
even more strange is that your errors reference carbonite 5.3.1 a1r1.. I could of sworn I updated the toc to say a1r2. not sure how much effort i'll put into NPCScan compatibility anymore now that it's discontinued... guess it depends how much need there is for it. |
I am working at this time.....will be traveling to Northrend and Outlands later today, but Pandaria is working like a champ.
It is unfortunate to find out that NPCScan is now defunct. That being said; Saiket did make the NPC series of addons open source. So hopefully someone with a better programming knowledge than I will come along and continue the projects. More information on the open source verification and source code here. Now Rythal, you have your hands full (period), so unless you wanted to integrate and manage another module to adapt NPCscan and NPCscan.overlay directly into Caebonite, I would skip it and let another programmer come along and pick NPCscan up and run. ???? Where can I find Information/verification that NPCscan and NPCscan.overlay has been shelved ???? I would post something to the various WoW forums for another "anyone" to pickup the program and continue it. UPDATE Just verified from the link above of the abandoned projects. Clearly stated on his Google code page :( I will get to work and se about finding other programmer(s) to take in and continue the project |
I've already taken on NPCSCan and Overlay.

Awesome! Thank you. :) |
Installed Alpha 2 R 1, and I'm still getting the NPCSCAN error:
Code:
1x _NPCScan.Overlay-5.0.0.3\Modules\Carbonite-5.3.0 alpha 1 r1.lua:13: attempt to index global "NxData" (a nil value) |
did you install the new carbonite.lua module that's in the extra folder?

I have Carbonite 5.3.0-Alpha-2 Installed, and I grabbed the Carbonite.lua from this thread and replaced the Carbonite.lua in the Extra-NPCScan Overlay folder with that. I'm getting this error upon login:
Code:
3x _NPCScan.Overlay-5.0.0.3\Modules\Carbonite-5.3.0 alpha 2.lua:13: attempt to index field "NXGOpts" (a nil value) Thanks for all of your hard work. Carbonite is one of my favorite addons and I can't imagine WoW without it. I look forward to future releases, and please let me know if you need any more info on my error. This is my first time posting about an issue...ever, heh. |
