By ctrl, or shift clicking on the gatherer slide button, YES, you can toggle the HUD on and off. The HUD is a layer over the top of your main UI which has all your previously visited nodes shown....

Sometimes I get errors like that with the dropdown menus, so I go and download updates for every single ACE2 addon I ahve and do a complete update, usually fixes it, if not, I delete it and try again...
