Well, how hard it is to update a mod depends on what the patched changed, what the mod did, what (if anything) stopped working, and if the author has the time to make any changes.

It's not really possible to migrate UI setups...
It's not really possible to migrate UI setups from one character to another unless they are identical. Because otherwise you end up having configuration conflicts and things break.
