MogIt with
some of its plugins should be able to put information on the tooltip of items if they belong to one of the sets it can track.
Same I'm assuming for user-created sets you save in the addon.
Also take a look at its dedicated forum for the author's
plans for added features
and submit a feature request or ask other users if what you want to do is already possible (I'm only using MogIt for the extra tooltip so I'm not the best to answer specific questions)
