The
kgPanels Wiki will give you some idea how it works. There is also a tutorial video linked from the
kgPanels WowAce Page that might help.
To find the strata that the object is on that you want to put your panel behind you can type "/fstack", without the quotes, into chat. That will open a small window (looks like an over sized tool tip) in a corner of your screen that will give you information on whatever you are hovering with your mouse. Type "/fstack" in chat again to close the window when you are done. This will help you to put any panels you make below the strata of the object you want to put a panel behind.
