Shift, being a modifier, cannot be bound directly to a button in Trinity, BUT... you can bind an entire bar to Ctrl, Alt, or Shift. I was playing with having a few actions on "shift-bar" for awhile. When i held shift, my one bar switched to another bar. Kinda nifty, but not sure if it'll help you.
