The 74 Gb drive sounds like it's most likely a WD Raptor style. One of the high performance 10,000 rpm ones
I'm not sure how much different the clients are between Live and Beta, but I know in Win7 I am running two installations of Live on the same HDD with no issues whatsoever. Seperate directories of course though.
