GlueXML has access to far more powerful (and abusable) API functions, and it would probably take Blizzard a lot of effort to secure that code. Off the top of my head, the login screen has access to account details
and a function to open a URL in your browser. Even if the URL function was protected and overrides were treated as insecure addon code, I doubt Blizzard would want to risk that combination.
