Looks solid. My only recommendation is to drop the Seagate drive, and get a Western Digital one instead. I used to love Seagate, but their drives have been a bit flaky the past couple years.

The 6 core is only better if he plans to run anything that will put them to use. The Sandy bridge he picked will be much faster for most applications, and games.
