The HUD is actually already "done" so it does fully support replacing the default HUD with new HUD designs of any type. It's just not documented yet because I'm trying to keep it to a dull roar until the who engine is ready... then I'm going to stand back like a proud Grandpa and watch everyone else dazzle me with their new layout designed for nUI.
It's really exciting to me to see the process starting and as soon as I can finish the engine, I'll be posting user guide instructions for customizing the layout that documents all of the available features and options.
