Looking for an artist...

I'm looking for some creative soul(s) that have the artistic skills I do not... I need two things... a graphic logo for nUI and a small button that I can place in the mod for the player to click to access nUI's settings and layout tools, etc... kind of an in-game trademark button for lack of a better term.

I'd like to use the logo on nUI's web site and the button will both provide players easy access to nUI's config as well as make screen shots easily identifiable as being nUI... once I start producing alternate layouts for nUI and others do the same, and players start customizing their layouts, it will be anything but obvious that the screen shot is showing nUI... so I'm looking for something small, unobtrusive and attractive.

Anyone?

Edit: Just looking over your post again, I can get rid of the main background layer and it will be transparent if you'd rather have it like that. And I can make it smaller as well.

Okay... I don't have authorization to use Bliz's WoW logo, so I think including it in the logo is a bad idea, much as I would like to. Definately something transparent and something with moodier colors. Kind of stare at this page http://www.nuiaddon.com/index.html and envision something that would look like it belonged in that dark box where it says "Welcome to the official nUI web site"

Nice first pass though.

EDIT: I'd also like to see the size/case difference between the "n" and "UI" more pronounced, as well... so the "n" is clearly minor to the "UI"

The WoW logo was taken from the Blizz Fansite kit. The license states:

So I'm guessing I can't put that in there. Might have to change my design then as the arthas model is too. Regarding the text, its the Morpheous font, which is used in WoW and i did type the n as small, but I guess it makes them look the same but I'll see what I can do.

Okay... I decided to just go back to basics and see what you think. I have two WoW fonts on my computer and I made two different logos. The fonts are completely free btw, the links were included in the WoW manual.

Okay logo 1 with the Folkard font. and heres what it would look like on an image (yes i know its old, haven't played in awhile).

Logo 2 with the Morpheus font. again on an image .

much more simple and transparent and better fitting with the design of your site. Let me know.

You do need to specify the color scheme and add some more details like size, contents, style etc. I may give it a shot if i have those.

The color scheme is the scheme I'm using at http://www.nUIaddon.com

Size -- bigger is better... I have Photoshop and can downsize to fit the need. Can't go the other way though ~smile~

Content I think is pretty well described in the first post in the thread... and style it what I'm relying on the artist for. Really both I'm relying on the artist for. Creativity man, creativity! ~smile~

I was always an adept of simple yet slick logos.

Here's my proposal (I also took the liberty of adding an imaginative motto, that can be changed of course) :



This looks well on any background, so the black background can be removed (alpha stuff FTW !)

I'll be working on a button version after i get a reply whether this shows potential or not ^^

I'm wondering what it would look like if the horizontal elements (the two bars that fade from center to edge) were incorporated into it somehow... either just above and below it or maybe even behind it. Might need to change the color of the bars though for it to look right... maybe even black?

This works, too, and I wonder the same thing... what happens if the horizontal elements are added to it. Might be interesting to see what the glow would like with a little pixelation, too, so it doesn't look so clean, crisp and modern against a background that is the exact opposite?

Just thinking out loud as always.

Oh... I generally like the idea of the motto... not 100% sold on the wording and obviously it wouldn't be usable in a button size.

Okay... I've kinda stumbled onto a motto for nUI by accident -- you'll see it in the trailer to the movie at http://www.nUIaddon.com/movies/movie01.html where it closes saying... "Just install and play... No fuss. No muss." (it's a tip of the hat to my Grandmother -- it was her favorite way to tell me to just get things done ~grin~)

So..."No fuss. No Muss" is the alternative to "The power to combine"

I generally like the concept here except that I've kind of been branding nUI with the little "n" big "UI" -- this kind of reverses that.
