nUI6 5.00.00.03 (ALPHA) release for MoP

nUI Release News
(nUI6 5.00.05.03)

The fourth release of nUI6 for Mists of Pandaria has been made on the nUIaddon.com web site. This is a closed ALPHA release limited only to nUIaddon.com Premium Download and e-Mail update users. The intent being to keep the user pool small for limited testing of limited functionality. This release is incomplete, leaves some default WoW UI elements enabled, does not enable all nUI6 elements and will require setting some things by hand such as chat frames, etc.

This is a larger release than the last few and adds a great deal of functionality (see patch notes below). Sample screen shots showing the current state of the UI are attached to include the display of the extra action button, vehicle exit button and the new features that have been added.

As soon as I can get all of the key features functioning, I will release a public Beta. If you are subscribed to the nUI e-mail update services, you should already have this alpha in your inbox. If you are subscribed to the nUI premium download service, you can find the download in the nUI > nUI6 > nUI6 alpha download section at http://www.nUIaddon.com -- you must be subscribed to the nUI Premium Download service or the nUI Premium E-Mail Updates service to access this alpha release. If you would like to subscribe, you may do so at the nUIaddon.com web site.

Please report any bugs to http://forums.nUIaddon.com as well as whatever commentary you can to provide on the work in progress.

Happy questing!

Hi Again Scott. Thanks for the update, it's some excellent progress! So far the action bars seem to be working as expected, which is great. Unfortunately though, I do have some bugs/issues to report. (I feel like the only time I post is with them >.>)

The cooldown timers appear as expected, however there is an interaction which I believe existed in nUI5 but was re-written for the confusion it can cause. While playing my Death Knight I use Horn of Winter. It invokes a 20 second cooldown with a 5 minute buff duration. Importantly though, it also generates Runic Power so I often cast it during free gcd's in combat.
At the moment, I cast it and it shows 5 minutes in purple (both cooldown and buff). However it doesn't change to blue (buff no cooldown) until 4 minutes remaining, instead of 4 minutes 40 seconds as it should. I imagine it changes colour on some sort of update that doesn't occur until the display time changes.
Not sure on best way to combat that scenario, but you must have solved it with nUI5.

Also, the cast bars looks great in default however I did notice though that while the Enemy cast bar displayed the name of the currently casting spell, the player cast bar did not. I rarely cast spells (as a DK) but I imagine there might be situations where the spell being cast may be ambiguous. Perhaps not in combat critical situations but I thought it might happen.

As a last thing, I almost thought the rep bar wasn't working until I realised it is being hidden underneath my bazooka bar. I'd say this is purposeful for this point in time, but just to put it on the record.

man.. I talk too much.. Uh.. Hope you had a good weekend

~lol~

It's all good.

The Bazooka think is because nUI6 does not yet integrate Bazooka. So, that's to be expected. It does work with Titan already.

I was back and forth about whether or not to include the spell name on the player casting bar. I'm still not sure. On the one hand, you should know what the hell you're casting, on the other hand... I'm old and I forget ~grin~ I may add it back in.

The cooldown thing I'll have to look at. The numbers come from the Blizz API, so I'll have to figure out why I'm getting unexpected numbers.

Thanks for the feedback.. it *is* appreciated.

That's what my guild-mate said when I mentioned it to him heh. I agree in most cases - The main time *I* notice is out-of-combat, both for my random-mount addon (which is just for interests sake, not important) and for catching myself when I'm 8 seconds through casting Hearthstone instead of Mass Ressurection.
I'm also torn on whether it has in-combat implications though. /shrug. The sort of thing that eventually ends up with an option I'd guess.

I should clarify that the cooldown numbers are correct in their numerical display, It's just the change in colour that is performed at the incorrect time (Being delayed until the next change of display, in this case as it goes from 5 minutes to 4 minutes: rather than happening while the display still reads 5 minutes but it is actually 4:40, it happens at 4:30 when displayed time ticks over.)

As for Bazooka - Thought as much All good.

Thanks. I'm not sure how that happened... that's two newsletters in a row that happened in. Gonna have to figure out what's causing that.

Thumbs up Great Work

Just wanted to let you know that the newsletter photo's of the progression of nUI looks great.
Keep at it, as far as I'm concerned I won't use anything else except yours.
