nUI6 5.00.05.05 (ALPHA) released


nUI Release News
(nUI6 5.00.05.05)
This release does some tweaking to the new XP and reputation bars, adds an equipment durability bar with enhanced tooltips for all three. This update also adds the alternate power bar to the unit frames for those special quests that use one. It is integrated directly into the unit frames and HUD rather than using an extra "custom" bar as in the default Blizz UI.

As soon as I can get all of the key features functioning, I will release a public Beta. If you are subscribed to the nUI e-mail update services, you should already have this alpha in your inbox. If you are subscribed to the nUI premium download service, you can find the download in the nUI > nUI6 > nUI6 alpha download section at http://www.nUIaddon.com -- you must be subscribed to the nUI Premium Download service or the nUI Premium E-Mail Updates service to access this alpha release. If you would like to subscribe, you may do so at the nUIaddon.com web site.

NOTE: Alpha releases are not normally available to the public. I offer them for download on the nUIaddon.com as a courtesy to those users who are actively contributing to nUI's ongoing development. Once the alpha is complete, a public beta will be made available. Until then, this is a closed alpha limited strictly to those who are supporting the develoment. I appreciate that everyone would like to have a go at this release, but I can't handle that many people pumping me about the things I already know are broken in the alpha. I trust you'll understand. Thank you.

Again, my lovely bug report.
Firstly I notice that the reputation bar isn't properly moving on from being honoured, for example my Shado-Pan is revered and shows as 33,088 out of 21,000.

Secondly, I have to note a flaw in this change:
"Added alternate player power bar (replaced normal player power bar when active)"
There are several situations where both normal resource bars and the 'alternate power bar' are required. Specifically, I noticed the first boss of Mogu-shan Vaults (the raid) has such a mechanic where the alternate power bar is an almost permanent fixture while doing a normal rotation. It's naturally an issue to not see normal resource bars. I do approve of adapting the blizz one though. it gets sucked up by action bars in my set-up

EDIT: Also, it is sometimes useful to know the colour of the bar, as in the above example the colour signifies which dog is petrifying and is important for the encounter.

I dont see this on under the downloads section on his site right now, was it pulled? also your title is misspelled scott, nUI6 5.00.05.05 is the version you put out, and 5.00.00.05 is what is linked in the title.

*edit* just noticed EVERY title for the alpha was set up like this lol

Should have known it would be too easy.

As it is, the alternate power bar actually shows you your default power and the alternate power on the same bar (kind of like the druid power bar).

However, I was unaware of the case where the bar had changing colors. That's an issue I don't have a good answer to yet. ~puzzles~

I'll look into the reputation bar thing.

And, as always, thanks for the bug reports.

Something else that I've noticed that's important too (not to do with this update though) is for the enemy cast bar to appropriately display whether a spell can be interrupted or not. Blizzard defaults to showing the little shield icon, and tidyplates addon changes between yellow and grey, so there are some options.

This is an issue that I am aware of. It is nUI6's only known taint bug. But, for the life of me, I can't find the cause. If anyone wants to have a go at finding it, be my guest. In the meantime, there are some changes coming in the taint system that I hope will allow me to find it if I haven't already by then. The good news is that this taint is not actually breaking anything, it's just an annoyance.

This is my three day weekend this week (I work a 9/80 schedule now), so I have plans for lots of nUI6 work this weekend. I will be sure to get this working. I should have already... so, thanks for the reminder.

another request, could we possibly move the warlock shard bar either off to the side a bit, or make it moveable, the cast bar sits right on top of it currently and the default ui is the only was to check the status of shards while in combat.

also while fighting the final boss in Shadow Pan Monastary the bar that tracks the orb things shows up directly over the combat bar. not sure what the element is named, but it does overlap. Finally did you indeed pull alpha 5 scott? when i login all i see is 0-4, pic below.

I accidentally set a "stop publishing" date on the upload for nUI6 5.00.05.05 -- it should be back up now. Thanks for pointing that out to me.

I am grinding my shadow priest and have noticed that the that the player class bar has been an annoyance being under the casting bar, too. But I'm also trying to avoid having the UI keep creeping up higher and higher into the world view. Not sure what the answer is yet. I may end up putting the cast bar on one side of the casting bar. Dunno. Not sure I like that either.

The bar that you're talking about for the orbs is most likely the player alternate power bar that I added in the .05 alpha. Grab that alpha and see if that doesn't fix that problem. If not, let me know.

if only my errors with combuctor were fixed as easily or quickly as you get to nui lol, ill give alpha 5 a shot, im grinding a loc to 90 atm, and btw, not sure that it helps you, because i also saw monkeyquest throwing some errors, but i saw that taint bug alot specifically when i was clicking to use an item on a quest, random example, clicking a bucket that would put out a fire when your standing next to it. I hope im explaining this correctly, like when theres almost a shortcut on the ui that points to an item in your inventory, i noticed if i click that and im not near wherever i need to be to use said item, nui throws that error i posted previously, alot.... not sure if that helps you at all or not. but Ill download alpha 5 now.

For what its worth, i switched from bazooka to titan panel this morning.... I love the way the graphics implement with nui. Fantastic job on that.

Alpha 5 is 'published' AY YI YI YI YIII so after recruiting a team of teenagers with attitude I have begun my mornings testing, not sure on my honest feelings on the durability bar yet, im sure at 90 ill love it, and if im not tracking rep, but 3 just seems messy atm. My 2cents is add a way for users to hide/show each bar. Last opinion, when you hover over a target, and the game menu bar shows the target and its health, and what i think is target of target, and focus, hp, Not sure how I feel about that either, I kinda feel your seeing the information twice, and the constant toggle up there is distracting while mousing around. Still messing around though, sorry about the constructive criticism.

uh oh, big problem, with alpha5 the entire 'hate' bar is gone... ay yi yi yi yiiii ss below

Thanks for posting this screenshot so that I might point out a thing or two and use it for reference. First of all, I am liking nUI6 much more than I expected.

My "main" is a warlock now (demo), who uses demonic fury. Our bar fills so the little bar with green dots is not very useful for our spec, but as pointed out earlier, it is covered with the casting bar.

My second annoyance is the inability to control the HUD. I sorely miss being able to change it to my liking which I'm sure will be implemented soon.....please....soon.

Mostly importantly, in LFR on the Stone Guards one of the 3 becomes "active". Typically (nUI5) there is a bar approximately where the green dots and cast bar is currently that fills with the appropiate color for the active guard (purple for Amethyst, blue for Cobalt, etc.) which changes as the fight progresses. Yesterday when I was in LFR that bar did not appear. I was at a complete disadvantage the entire fight taking additional time to determine which guard was active. That is much needed resource, especially in normal mode raids.

Oh, I almost forgot, where is the bag bar in 6?

I concur on the demonic frenzy bar demo locks use. Its a percentage rate so even x dots to signify a percentage block may not be great either as we may need to check for some strange percentage before switching back and forth.

But good to see that the extra bar is showing on that fight, looks like its one of those ones where it is permanently displayed.

But looking good so far.

Yeah... that's a tweak I still need to make the class bar is to support a bar for locks, pally's, etc. Also have to get runes working for DKs. They'll all be on that same bar.

I think its more the case that locks need 2 different bars. One for demo locks thats just a percentage fill status bar in essence and the one for other specs that are x bubbles. Also, you might want to take into account that, if I remember rightly, balance druid special bar changes color depending on which stage it is in .. solar or lunar ( or whatever the phrase is ).

Yeah... demo locks have the bar while the affliction use shards. I'm aware. I have the class bar set u to support using a bar instead of dots -- I just haven't finished implementing it yet. Hopefully I can get that into the next update.

The Druid bar, as I recall, moves left and right of center, as well.

It does occur to me, as well, that the shards, combo points, orbs, etc., also show up in the default player unit frame in the dashboard. But, then, the fact that no one else noticed it and I didn't think of it, kinda says a lot doesn't it? ~smile~
