nUI6 5.00.05.06 (ALPHA) released

nUI Release News
(nUI6 5.00.05.06)

This release is mostly bug fixes in the reputation and XP bars as well as unit frames and casting. It does add the location feature back into nUI.

As soon as I can get all of the key features functioning, I will release a public Beta. If you are subscribed to the nUI e-mail update services, you should already have this alpha in your inbox. If you are subscribed to the nUI premium download service, you can find the download in the nUI > nUI6 > nUI6 alpha download section at http://www.nUIaddon.com -- you must be subscribed to the nUI Premium Download service or the nUI Premium E-Mail Updates service to access this alpha release. If you would like to subscribe, you may do so at the nUIaddon.com web site.

NOTE: Alpha releases are not normally available to the public. I offer them for download on the nUIaddon.com as a courtesy to those users who are actively contributing to nUI's ongoing development. Once the alpha is complete, a public beta will be made available. Until then, this is a closed alpha limited strictly to those who are supporting the develoment. I appreciate that everyone would like to have a go at this release, but I can't handle that many people pumping me about the things I already know are broken in the alpha. I trust you'll understand. Thank you.

Please report any bugs to http://forums.nUIaddon.com as well as whatever commentary you can to provide on the work in progress.

Happy questing!
K. Scott Piel

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Version 5.00.05.06 (Alpha)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

* Moved class bar from behind the casting bar in the HUD

* Fixed alternate power bar so it correctly shows player's main power bar as well
for all classes (not just those that use mana)

* Added map location and coordinates to the minimap

* Added player and cursor location to the world map

* Added cursor coordinates to the battlefield minimap

* Fixed a bug in the experience bar that caused it to report level 89 stats when the
player hit level 90

* Fixed math errors in the reputation bar

* Enabled right-click menus on unit frames (note -- this triggers the blizz taint bug)

* Fixed a logic error in the player unit frame that caused the player frame to be
hidden on some quests/encounters involving vehicle type interfaces

just downloaded and install, had switched back to nui5 for a bit because of the bar issues with instances, and since combuctorproftabs is broke, my professions are a pain in the ass to use without the infopanel, anyone have any solutions to that btw?

First 'bug' if its a bug, is that the xp bar is still visable if you are already 90. should that not hide itself? Can post ss if necessary, still changing addons around to work with 6

also, carbonite related bug is still here, not sure how this reacts to what, but its definitely carbonite causing it. When carbonite is active, even with all map options unticked, the nui minimap just disappears, im not sure if this is related to the way nui displays blizz's minimap vs how carbonite does it. You can however minimize blizz minimap into carbonites and then drag it into the minimap window, but this never happened in nui5 with the carbonite infopanel. you were able to see both the blizz(in nui) minimap and the carbonite minimap using nui5 and the nui carbonite (continued) infopanel. SS below. Not sure where the problem lays whether its with nui or carbonite. just informing you

Also more bad news, this is Taran Zhu from Heroic Shadow Pan with nui6 alpha 6

(still no hate bar)

Great job moving warlock bar above cast bar though, that lines up great

It is actually hidden. I just don't hide the whole frame, only the bar itself. You'll note, too, if you mouse over the bar, the tooltip doesn't show up either. So, that's as intended.

I've not tried to deal with integrating nUI with other mods yet, other than Titan Panel. nUI does change the anchoring of the Minimap to make it work with the unit frame panels. It actually moves the map when you change to the 25 and 40 man panels. I'm not sure what the solution is for that with Carbonite. My gut reaction is to tell Carbonite not to move the map. nUI does *not* keep it in a single location and needs to be able to control it's location.

Look again. ~smile~ See the purple bar under your blue mana bar in both the HUD and the unit frame. That's the hate bar.

well that is mostly good news, ill have to rerun that dungeon and watch that bar next to my mana more closely, as far as carbonite goes, i could really care less at the moment, the new author is modulating it, so soon enough i can just install the quest aspect which is all i really want, i can deal with monkey for now. But I did have it set to "Not" take over the minimap, and it still made ur minimap go all buggy. My professions are the real pain in my ass for the moment. All in all Im liking everything, just wish an openraid would take off, im really wanting to try a 10 or 25 raid in nui6, almost good enough for raidfinder ingame, so well see how that goes, general questing didnt show many bugs that I found last night. Now that I know what that red meter is next to my mana in that fight, it helps, but I think some would prefer an option to display the origional bar or hud bar. Me personally i think I will like it in my hud, just need to find another quest which uses that bar and test it out again The bag bar is also missed

Yeah. I have to agree. The bag bar is sorely missed. It should show back up in the next release or two.

As for the alternate powrr bar as a separate bar, the issue is realestate. Having it embedded where the player is already accustomed to looking at their power makes sense to me. I just need to come up with a way to make it stand out more as being something "different/special" when it is there. I'll probably give it some kind of glow or something like that. I am open to suggestions.

PS: are you using an addon for the extra action button? That does not look like the extra action button I implemented in nUI6... the location doesn't seem quite right and the extra art should not be showing.

no addons, thats alpha6, and thats where the fight pops it up, thats also where it popped up during DS. The cooking daily where you need to find the prize chicken shows up the same way, in the same area. And for the record, I like the blizz graphics they change with each usage for extraactionbutton1. I would leave them. Ill try and get a ss on the chicken quest if i get it tonight. I dont think any other dailies use it that I have unlocked.

The alternate power bar "issue" i dont see as an issue, just a learning curve. im sure someone can add it back as a plugin if need be. I tweaked your aura buttons mod to hell to rearrange my screen back during cata myself. Everyone has a different playstyle, the purpose of an addon should be to enhance the game experience, if the player doesnt like that enhancement then they can make their own, mod it, or find a different one. We all appreciate your work scott, dont kill yourself over realestate lol. but again for the record, my suggestion is use blizzard graphics, because the graphics are different for the power bar with each use it has depending on where its used, seems special enough to me. But again I like the bar attached to mana.

hitting "b" seems to be an ok replacement for the bag bar as well lol.

How about above the pet health/power bars in the hud? Plenty of space there for a nice bar.

no hud

What about those of us who do not like the hud and are waiting patiently for the ability to cut it off (simple/no hud)?? Along those lines I don't know how this is going to work in LFR and normal raids. In that ss it's purplish. Is it going to change with the color changes of the stone guards?

my suggestion is use blizzard graphics, because the graphics are different for the power bar with each use it has depending on where its used
Yes please.

I hate to be an ass, but I'm going to tell you for a fact that I won't be using the Blizzard graphics. They're too big for the nUI layout and they're too difficult to manage. For every person who is asking for me to use the graphics, there will be another who is screaming at me for it.

Turning the HUD off will not impact your ability to use the bar... it will appear in the unit frame for the player, as well (it does now). In addition, I will be using the data I collect on the bar to set bar colors as appropriate based on the bar type and graphics that are used... so you'll get the same function you get now but without clobbering the UI with it. Likewise, I intend, in time, to replace the blizz pet battle UI as well and incorporate it into the nUI dashboard.

There's arguments for both side, but in the end, my intent is to provide a single user interface that can be customized to suit the player taste. In nUI6, you have the option of turning any built in blizz UI element on if you want it to be... you just have to accept the side effects that come with it. But, by default, the built in alternate power bar will be disabled.

not sure about the power bar, but I remember the macro that force showed the extraactionbutton1 during the 2 DS boss fights with blizzard graphics. I would imagine that it will still function to show it again, and I'm sure that there is a macro/script that will show the bar. In fact I bet thats why its still there on my ui. Ill check in on that and report back later.

edit to link macro/script
http://www.wowinterface.com/forums/s...4&postcount=28

Edit again
Code:
/run PlayerPowerBarAltCounterBar:Hide()
Code:
/run PlayerPowerBarAltCounterBar:Show()
those maybe?

i don't see this working for raids. I attempted LFR again tonight and it was horrible still. The thin line of purplish color did nothing for me. I had to rely on the boss frames to determine which guard was active. I had 3 useless dots taking up space that would have been much better used with a scaled version (if necessary) of the intended power bar. It changes colors for a purpose...the fight is fast paced and dps has to switch targets according to that. I hate to think of what I'll have to work with when the ability to turn off the hud taking up so much "real estate" on my screen.

Today I had a thin purple line regardless which guard was active....oh hell just guess, we like keeping it a mystery because we are not going to implement something actually useful. See for yourself in the link below...couldn't add an attachment.

You don't need to do that.

If you *really* want the built in Blizz power bar to be displayed, all you have to do is open [ World of Warcraft > WTF > {account name} > {realm name} > {character name} > Saved Variables > nUI6.lua ] with a plain text editor, scroll down to the ["HiddenElements"] section and change the line I've indicated. That will cause nUI6 to not hide the bar. -- for the record, nUI6+ has a checkbox you use to turn these on and off rather than hand edit the saved vars... but that's a long way off still.

Code:
    ["HiddenElements"] = {
        ["RaidFrameRaidBrowserButton"] = true,
        ["MultiBarBottomLeft"] = true,
        ["TemporaryEnchantFrame"] = false,
        ["FocusFrame"] = true,
        ["DurabilityFrame"] = true,
        ["PartyMemberFrame3"] = true,
        ["MainMenuBar"] = true,
        ["PartyMemberFrame4"] = true,
        ["PlayerFrame"] = false,
        ["PartyMemberFrame3PetFrame"] = true,
        ["PartyMemberFrame2PetFrame"] = true,
        ["PartyMemberFrame4PetFrame"] = true,
        ["PartyMemberBackground"] = true,
        ["MultiBarRight"] = true,
        ["PartyMemberFrame2"] = true,
        ["PossessBarFrame"] = true,
        ["TargetFrame"] = true,
        ["PartyMemberFrame1"] = true,
        ["ComboFrame"] = false,
        ["VehicleMenuBar"] = true,
        ["ShapeshiftBarFrame"] = true,
        ["PlayerPowerBarAlt"] = false,
        ["RuneFrame"] = false,
        ["BuffFrame"] = false,
        ["PetFrame"] = false,
        ["PlayerPowerAltBar"] = true,
        ["PetActionBarFrame"] = true,
        ["PartyMemberFrame1PetFrame"] = true,
        ["CastingBarFrame"] = true,
        ["MultiBarBottomRight"] = true,
        ["MultiBarLeft"] = true,
        ["PetCastingBarFrame"] = true,
        ["TargetofTargetFrame"] = true,
    },
Lastly.... scroll to the bottom of that file (at least that's where it is in my file) and make this change, too...

Code:
    ["Changed"] = true,
That should do the trick without editing nUI6 code or using macros.

Wow. Really?! o.O

Did you not read what I said? I *know* that is broken at the moment, that's why I am asking to collect data... so I can fix it and "implement something useful"

Yea, i still havnt gotten into a raid or seen the full effects of altpowerbar but im already not liking how it works (in game, not in addon) seems like they used one bar for nearly every special ability. I guess that theoretically simplifies things, but idk yet, I did get another Corrupt Tzu run in or whatever his name is, and the nui bar worked fine for me, now about the fight in raidfinder, or a full raid, i still havnt experienced that yet. Editing the saved variable seems like a fine idea atm to me. This is an alpha ppl, helpful posts are helpful :P

@Sinakul, to do a image all you need to do is click the (Insert Image) button in advanced posting on the forum here, or you could add it manually

Code:
[\IMG]http://www.yourwebsite.com/images/yourimage.jpg[/IMG\]
remove the "\"

FYI: The easiest way to add an image to a post is to just click the paperclip icon in the message editor... or you can scroll down the page to the "Manage Attachments" button.
