Howdy, new collector of macros here

Hi, I'm new here. Came to talk shop with macros and I'm working on my first addon. I'm also the developer of the new Macro-wow.com - I was tired of looking on forums for quality macros, so I built a site.

I'm new to the Wow dev scene, but I'm a Web dev by trade. Hoping to learn a lot here! Been playing Wow since Vanilla off and on.

Welcome. I like the overlay on the bottom of your site. Makes me think of things I can do for my company site.

I find it a little off-putting that the gryphons' faces are chopped off, though...

In addition to missing a category for Death Knights, the fact that the categories aren't in any logical order makes the menu much harder to use than it needs to be. I'd suggest putting the classes first in alphabetical order, followed by the general categories in alphabetical order, so:
Death Knight, Druid, Hunter, Mage, Monk, Paladin, Priest, Rogue, Shaman, Warlock, Warrior, PVE, PVP
The white boxes for the search and blog entries are also much too bright for the rest of the layout.

Other than that (and the de-faced gryphons Seerah mentioned), the design looks really nice.

There don't seem to be many macros, though, and the ones you do have are pretty basic. I submitted a few more interesting ones, though I didn't realize until the third one that I was supposed to include my name in the description box. >_>

Thanks for the feedback, I just started it a last week. Feel free to submit more and PM me the name and realm you want me to add.

I have lots more functionality planned and working on now so should be fun. There's no DK category because I don't have one and need to research it.

Currently the menu is sorted by quantity, but sounds like a good idea to go alpha. I am implementing rating and some other filters on the listing pages this weekend, should be done soon.

Thanks for the submissions! I have now updated the submit page to include a submitter field to give credit to submitters.

I've also implemented a small API integration with the armory, so if you put in your character and realm name it *should* return some basic things, like this:
http://macro-wow.com/macro/deadly-ca...heroic-strike/

Obviously, I spend more time coding than playing but you know how that is.

I think that statement probably applies to most of the regular posters on these forums.

Probably won't change anything for me. I got bored and quit in WotLK because the content was too easy and it was too frustrating playing with people who thought it was soooo hard and couldn't manage to not stand in the cleave/fire/voidzone every single time. I leveled my shaman up to 85 after Cataclysm came out, but with so much simplification and nothing new for my class, it failed to rekindle my interest. MoP just takes the simplification of everything to the nth degree, and there's still nothing new for shamans (and the enhancement rotation at the moment is chock full of boring autoattacking dead time) or feral druids. I might try a monk, though. We'll see.

I wasn't thrilled with the linear quest progression of Cata. I have 6 85 toons and leveling all of them in the exact same way was a pain. I'm actually a fan of the vanilla quest model. Although I think they scored with dailies in BC.

Really looking forward to MOP. I've stayed away from the beta even though I have access, so no spoilers!

I predominately play during the winter months and I'll never get into hard core raiding again, I'm just too old now! I'm into AH, PVP and casual raiding.

Yeah, that's another point. I think the changes were perfect for new players who aren't familiar with the quest lines and really benefit from the linear progression, but they're just awful for anyone with multiple characters. Plus the XP required per level is too low, and/or the XP awarded per quest too high, so I end up quickly outleveling the quests and having to go find another level-appropriate quest hub that will actually give me quests without having completed the previous hub.

I added the ability to "Vote up" a macro - does that verbiage make sense to you guys? i was going to do Thumbs Up and Down but I ended up just doing the one, like a "like" button sort of.

I am going to store a cookie or localstorage to block revoters tonight.

I'm not sure how much cookies or localstorage will really help... if someone wants to re-vote, they can just clear their browser's local data. I guess it will probably stop most casual re-voters who just forgot they already voted.

Anyway, I generally don't find simple rating systems like that very helpful, especially if they're only one way. If I'm visiting a site that's 1 year old, a good macro that's 1 year old will have a much higher rating than an amazing macro that's 1 month old, and that makes the rating information completely useless. A system like Amazon's would be better, where each vote is from 1-5, and the total rating is the average of all votes, with the total number of votes displayed next to the average rating.
