Question Messy font shadow/outline

I've been modifying FreeUI for a while now, mostly because the pixel font hurt my eyes. Accomplished this by changing the font and replacing the OUTLINEMONOCHROME with OUTLINE in the lua files. The result is this:

Any idea why the font outline looks so messy? Is it a video setting?

Thanks!

THINOUTLINE might look a little bit better. However the nature of font flags is that they are looking like that ... except for MONOCHROME OUTLINE which adds a "pixel perfect" outline, but requires a pixel font.

A font shadow is different in that it doesn't create an outline but ... a shadow ("copy") of the original text, with an offset.

You can also try turning off the “Use UI Scale” option in the video settings window. When it’s off, WoW will automatically scale the UI so that it matches your screen resolution correctly. If you change the UI scale yourself, then edges can get fuzzy since they’re not getting lined up exactly with the pixels on your monitor.

There is no such thing as thinoutline. Only outline and thickoutline. If you type anything else it will default to 'outline'.

Example

The 1st is outline, 2nd is thinoutline, the third is my special outline called reallyreallyreallysuperthinoutline.
