weird " book " lookin icon under my character frame

title says it all i have a weird " book " lookin icon under my character frame
with a red X to the right, was wondering if it was carbonite, it pops each time i get a new quest, i think its useless, ugly and totally annoys me, any way to turn it off, or anyone knows what it is?

Type in /fstack and mouse over it to see what it is. If it's an addon that's bugging, you can disable it.

i opened a ticket and blizz told me to reset WoW rofl....
took me for ever to like my UI now, lots of custom settings...
please sum1 help me out

EDIT: i turned off carbonite and i dont see the " book " anymore, ima boycott carbonite till sum1 find out what it is.....

To find out if Carbonite is causing the problem, disable all of your addons except Carbonite and test. If the problem goes away, then it is most likely another addon conflicting with Carbonite and the only way to tell which one is to re-enable your other addons in small groups, testing after enabling each group, until the problem reappears. Go back and disable that group, and re-enable (and test) them one at a time until the problem reappears again. That should be the offending addon. Once you find it make sure to let the authors of both addons know there is a conflict.

i turned off all addon, just carbonite was on, and the " book " was there
i started playing with the auto turn on and auto accept quest,
the book appears when auto accept quest is on
i mean sum1 must have created that book, sum1 somewhere must know what it is, it cant just appear like that, is there a way to track that book and " delete "
its file in my folders?

I suspect the answer to your question is either "no", or "yes, but it would be more effort than it's worth".

It looks like there's some conflict between Carbonite's quest tracker and the Blizz quest tracker. Like Carbonite's hasn't fully integrated itself. There may be a problem with your Saved Variables.

With WoW not running, go into your wtf folder, find the SavedVariables folder in your <toon> folder, and delete or rename carbonite.lua and carbonite.lua.bak. Then start Wow and see if the problem persists.

Do you still get the 'phantom book' if you disable these auto accept/turn in functions? If not, then it sounds like it could be a bug with Carbonite that needs to be filed.

i turned on auto turn in quest the book doesnt happear, when i put on auto accept quest the book happears, so its auto accept quest option that is buggy

i just dont use the option anymore and didnt see the weird book since

i did all those steps before posting in the forums.. im not an advanced user but i can handle some of the bugs, this one is just.. weird lol

I get this weird behavior as well with auto accept/auto turn in quests, but only when doing the Tol Barad daily quests (outside and when your faction has it). I thought it was just me because I do run alot of addons but apparently not.

I'm pretty sure an author of Carbonite reviewed this issue before; If I recall he said it was just Blizzard ui and a Carbonite conflict in the coding and all you need to do is simple hit ESC to get rid of it.
