punks revisited

Hi,

I've been noticing something weird. Sometimes (and I stress the word 'sometimes'), enemy players appear on my carbonite minimap, I can rightclick the dot, choose track, and then the carbonite arrow will track them and keep tracking them over very long distances.

Please note: there were NO friendly players in the area at that time, so nobody was sending me position updates about the 'punk' I detected. Also the players themselves didn't even have carbonite installed, so I did not get position updates from them. As I understand (from skimming this forum) how punk detections work, this should be impossible, and yet it happens. Any ideas on how this is possible?
