How to make carbonite show full pathing

Forgive me if I missed this in the search, I couldn't figure out what it was called, so I didn't get any results. Back in the day, when you were traveling a far distance, carbonite used to zoom out so you could see the full path, from start to finish. Now it only zooms out so far so you're only seeing a chunk in the middle if you're going cross continent for whatever reason. I've looked through the menu options and maybe I'm just missing it, but is there a way to make it zoom out to show the entire path so I can see both start and finish, or preferably, a way to keep the map centered on my position so I can see my area. I'd LOVE it if I could have it stay fairly zoomed in (so I can see resource nodes and what not) while still keeping the flight path line active? Any help would be much appreciated.
