Map zooming issues. Help?

Whenever I set carbonite to follow an objective, it points in the right direction but zooms in on the halfway point on my mini map. This doesn't help me at all and prevent me from seeing anything in my immediate area. I've tried playing around with settings and nothing seems to work. This is really bugging me. Help? Carbonite, by default, zooms out to show you both the goto point and your own location, gradually zooming closer as you approach.

If you want to disable this function, you want to turn "auto scale" off. If I recall correctly, you do this by toggling a checkbox on the upper right of your Carbonite map.
