Buffs and Auras

Firstly i would like to thank the development team for an awesome UI. My problem with the latest version is that my buffs and auras and the target buffs and auras are all compiling in a downward direction over the top of my chat and combat chat frames on the left and right side. It never did this before, it always moved in an upwards direction as the aura's and buffs increased. Is this a bug or do i need to do an adjustment to correct it. Thanks again guys for a great UI...its like losing both my arms if dont get to use it,,lol..

It's a bug, but it likely will not get fixed in nUI5... you'll have to wait for nUI6 to see it fixed unless something changes.

Thanks for the speedy reply Scott. I was thinking maybe it was due to the way i had the settings or something..glad that you seen what it was. I can wait until nUI 6 for a fix...i just wanted to make sure i didn't mess it up. And again..thank-you for the reply and the awesome work you do..

Aspt...i believe there is a slash command that can control how many aura's that can appear. It has a max of 40 if i remember and you can bring it to zero by by using the slash command /nui maxaura 0 as in 0 = zero. I hope someone can back me up on this as i am working from memory and havent been online to double check info. But you can do this yourself by entering /nui help and the slash command for the auru's is in the given list...i hope this helps....

Note: using the command '/nui maxauras 0' is *NOT* recommended... it turns off *all* aura displays... this includes your buffs, debuffs, target buffs and debuffs and the HOT/DOT bar among other things.

To each their own, but this is unsupported and will have side effects.

You would have to edit the appropriate layout file depending on which auras you're trying to lose (player, pet or vehicle buffs, target debuffs, etc.) -- it's non-trivial in nUI5 I'm afraid.

nUI was not designed (and never will be intentionally) to have parts of it disabled so they can be replaced with other mods. It's counter to the intent of nUI when it was originally conceived. There's a FAQ on that here: http://www.wowinterface.com/forums/s...ad.php?t=23943

That said, *everything* in nUI is configurable if you're willing to edit the layout files. In this case you would be editing the files in [ Interface > AddOns > nUI > Layouts > Default > UnitPanels > {panel mode} > nUI_UnitSkin_{panel mode}{unit}.lua ] where {panel mode} is which set of unit frames you want to modify -- Solo, Party, Raid10, etc. -- and {unit} is which unit you want to modify - Player, Pet, Vehicle, Target, etc.

Look toward the bottom of the file for the ["Aura"] section... you can customize the aura displays there, or remove them as you see fit. You'll also have to look at the ["Label"] section near the top of the file to lose the name labels that are used for the auras.

I apologize Scott if i gave the nUI user misinformation..i was only thinking he was wanting to temporarily turn of the aura's until a fix or until nUI6 is released as the bug in question can be a little irritating while in combat and trying to read the raid chat..

I assure you my intentions were honorable and was only trying to be helpful And i myself would never replace any of nUi's functions with another addon for the reason as you suggested as it would be pointless to use nUI in the first place. Again..please except my apologies for any confusion in my suggestion to said user. I look forward to nUI 6 and I am grateful for your dedication and hard work for this awesome UI...and as soon as my financial adviser (the wife..

) allows me later today i will be making a donation to the the cause as I have now been using nUI for about 6 months and I am very happy with it. Thanks again Scott.

It's all good SpyCatcher -- I just have to clarify when that comes up because people don't always realize that maxauras affects almost everything in the UI and then there's usually a freakout that occurs after they try using the 0 option.

By the way Scott..I know this isnt the correct forum area to ask this question, but, is the the nUI guilds still going as I would like to roll a toon to join one of them. Also..as promised made a donation to the cause..a one of for the time being, economic restraints and all that..i know you understand...lol.

The guilds are *sorta* still going... mostly not. A few regulars there. I really would love to get them going, but I haven't had time to actually play WoW in the better part of six months other than the occasional "gotta get this achievement done" marathon for the "What a long strange trip it's been" achievement (complete on 5 toons now).

PS: Is did see the donation... thank you very much... it's deeply appreciated.

Rofl, I dont think i have stepped into those realms for a year or so .. 7 80s with 3 in progress my regular server keeps me busy even while unemployed so can only imagine what little time I will have once I do manage to get a job.

My wife last night, VENDORED all her stuff, and DELETED all her toons... 5 geared 80s (75% in T10), because she is pissed at blizzard... and was only 60 quests from completing her loremaster achieve.... and a few other things... Only problem... I had just preorder 3 copies of Cata Coll 'ed...

Oh well... Have fun everyone.. I'm off to work (after 7wks off for medical reasons...)

((Yeah I know off topic... but hell I dont know what I'm gonna do, as I 'lost' my play partner now... ))
