Channel-window

Hy everybody,

i hope you can read and understand my horrible english, i`m from germany, and so i can`t write english as good as german, but i try it.

I have the problem with the diffrent channels and message-window.

so if i want to use the buttons on the left side under the channelwindow, so i can`t use them, because always i click on one of it, it open the text-window for tip in a text for group, gild or another kind of message.

Can you try to fix this bug as soon as possible?

I say thankyou yet now.

Greetings

Are you using any chat mods with nUI such as Chatter, Prat or WIM? There is a known conflict with WIM at present. The problem you're describing does not sound like default nUI chat frame behavior.

Good to know that there is a known conflict with WIM... I assume you mean the issue where WIM causes the General window to default back to Blizzard buttons. moves the Edit box back to the bottom and unlocks the entire window, causing it sometimes to move to the default Blizzard position??

I was trying to track down the cause of this today after contacting the WIM author, who said that WIM's code doesn't even touch or involve the General chat window. (http://www.wimaddon.com/forums/index...pic,835.0.html)

I discovered that there is a similar problem with Prat too. The problem with Prat, is that it unhooks the Edit box, moves it back to the bottom and retextures the editbox border. (I suspect this is by design of Prat, but I thought it worth mentioning.)

I noticed that some of the default UI settings, especially related to the Chat and Chat windows, are saved on server-side, so I was worried that maybe I'd jacked something out of place.

I do have a question though: Is it redundant now to use a chat addon like Prat or Chatter with nUI? I just came back to the game, and had all these addons already installed from a year ago, and I've been trying to clean out any redundant addons and get everything updated, but it seems like the Chat addons don't want to behave well with this latest Development version.

I don't think it's redundant... quite a few nUI users use Prat and Chatter (as well as WIM). You just have to use the options in those mods to move the chat edit box to the top of the chat frame and you should be fine.

Ok, great. I really like the bells and whistles of Prat and Chatter, but I couldn't tell if they were supposed to change the border textures and edit-box position.

(refer to the Grumpus posts and screenshots (Grumpus = me), not the WIM author's original post)
So is this the known issue with WIM that you were referring to above? It sounds like it might be what the OP is talking about, and I know some other nUI/WIM users are having similar issues.

I suspect that what's happening here is that when nUI detects the presence of Prat, Chatter or WIM, it relinquishes control of the chat frame to those mods in order to prevent conflicts. If WIM doesn't do anything with the main chat frame, that may be the reason why we're having issues with WIM... because if it's loaded, I'm expecting it to control that chat frame.

That would make sense, because according to the WIM author's reply to me, WIM doesn't touch that chat frame at all and its an easy fix for nUI. /yay

If i turn off WIM, i have the same problems with the main-chat.

So i think that this is not a problem with WIM, because i only use WIM with nUI.

Hmm... are you turning WIM off in game or at the AddOns control panel in the startup screen? Because if WIM is truly disabled when you enter the world, then nUI will place the chat edit box at the top of the chat frame. (this is tested and proven)

If you're disabling WIM in-game, then you'll have to do a '/nui rl' before nUI will "fix" the chat frame... I'm not sure if that will cause WIM to be re-enabled or not.

I'd suggest posting some Screenshots of the problem.
