NUI 5 and the PTR

I was wondering if anybody has tried NUI 5 on the PTR and what the results were. It seems likely that the patch is falling tomorrow and I'm afraid my beloved NUI isnt going to work very well.

An update on where NUI 6 is would also be a very good thing since it hasnt had an update for general consumption for awhile now.

Thanks for any information on either of these topics.

not too sure about nUI5 on the PTR but this is nUI6 on live with some other mods filling in for nUI features until they are added

To be honest, I'm not really that interested in piecing together things to get the same look/function. The appeal of NUI for me (and a lot of others I bet) is that its all in one. I dont like having 15 different addons to manage, with NUI I had a total of 4/5 depending on if I felt like I needed recount at the time.

I've looked at other UI's out there and none of them fit what I want. Most likely if NUI is a dead project I will probably go back to the Blizzard interface.

I do hope life is treating Scott a little better these days.

Haven't tested it much but so far no issues really. Didn't do any dungeons or Raids tho.

I just finished DL'ing the PTR and NUI 5.

I get errors on the map for the info-panel. Didnt have a lot of time to check out everything, but that was as soon as I login.

you really should give nUI6 and do what i did the chances of nUI5 getting updated for 4.1 is less than none.

I understand that NUI 5 wont be updated, I dont expect it to. I was kind of hoping that somebody had tried it on the PTR to see if anymore of it had broke. I should have some time this weekend to play with it a little more.

But if NUI 5 doesnt work anymore that leaves NUI 6 which isnt totally working either. As I said before I dont want to manage that many addons. I also realize that is my choice as well.

I know nobody wants to say it, but an update on NUI 6 would be most welcome, even if it was not to expect it anytime soon.

Knowing Spiel, if 4.1 hits the live servers before nUI6 is more usable (it's rather useable imho) I'm sure he'll fix nUI5 if needs be.

Afraid tho that there's other things for him to worry about considering he doesn't post as much as he usually does, so here's hoping that whatever is wrong is getting better soon for Spiels sake.

I tried again to get my PTR patched but it keeps locking up when I try and play it .. worse case scenario if nUI 5 gets messed up when it hits live and Scott is still busy I'll see if I can see what needs tweaking to make it not break at least

It's in the "Dungeons & Raids" category as "Raid Boss Alternative Bar", named as such because the same frame is used by several encounters.

Also you can add frames to MoveAnything's list, with "/move frameName" or "/mafe frameName".

Okay managed to get PTR up and running with just base nUI 5.07.12 installed.

Noticed glitches:
1. Minimap in infopanel sized wrong
2. Player Portrait still not appearing
3. In game tutorials highlight elements as if they were in their original place.

Error Messages recorded by bugsack during this session which may be nUI caused:

I'm a bit worried now as well.

Last time I read a post from him was about telling the nUI users that he took some time off to dedicate himself to get v6 up and running asap.

Which never happened..

I fear the worst.

Is it time to find another UI ?

yeah there is alot to do before scott can actually release nUI6, probably got a few more betas to test first.

afaik these need to be finished/added

UnitFrames
InfoPanel
Console options
Buff Bars
Mover
Bar options

and a hole lot of other features, i just hope he includes a options menu for nUI6.

From what I remember he is having a UI for the options built in so you won't need to edit the files like in nUI5. How much you can do with it I don't know.

That I don't know. I know Scott doesn't like too much being turned off in favour of other addons doing the same or similar. So, unsure of what he plans to do in the long run for version 6.
