Exclamation Just another raid frame teaser...

Here's some more raid unit frame screenies from last night's 25 man Naxx.

If I can get the scaling issue sorted out today, I'll be putting a 5.0 in everyone's e-mail box tonight.

Best dmn UI i've ever used and seen. Wonderful work there you've done Scott.

i gots a little question tough;

((havent checked trough ALL the 140 pages so im sorry if im repeating an old question))

it's like this... i totaly love you dashboard and the diffrent available skins for it, like the dragon_nui dasshboard for example. But... Is it possible for me to make an own unique skin for myself? (dashboard skin). If it is... would you care to explain what manner of program(s) i need to use? Tried to open up the files that contains in (for example) nUI_Dragon folder (some .blp files and whutnut) wit hPhotoshop... but no luck :P .

The thing is that i'd realy like to have an own custom made skin... if it is possible to make one that is.

well, thx in advance. ANd keep up the grand work

I <3 <3 <3 <3 the new 10/25 raid panels. I have just one minor nitpick.

any chance you could put the player and target unit frames above the raid frames. Also, donation should be in the mail soon as well. Messy desk (ie lost card) FTL.

Just gotta say, I've been using this ui for a couple months now, and I honestly don't know how I could play the game without it. Please, keep up the most excellent work.

Question Scale issue from 4.19 / 4.2 & Blizz Frame Question

I apologize if I missed the answer to these questions. Since 4.19, the text scaling of my aura's is a bit messed up. It's larger now and overlaps the timers and aura frame if the text is too long. I've attached before and after screenies. Two questions about that, 1. How can I set it so it doesn't overlap, and/or 2. if possible, how can I change the font size to be something more close to the "before" screen shot? I have a 24" monitor and use 1920x1200 resolution.

Also, a question I've been meaning to ask since Wrath came out... how can I get rid of the blizzard pet/vehicle frame? It can be a pain as it overlaps my unit-frames.

Thank you for any help.

BLP is a custom format that Bliz uses for their graphics and to the best of my knowledge there's no plugin for Photoshop that supports it directly. There's a nice program called "WoWImage" that I use to convert BLP to PNG and PNG to BLP... pick up a copy of that, then you can create your dashboard in PNG format with Photoshop and convert it to BLP for use in WoW.

To make a skin for nUI, your dashboard needs to be 2056x512 in size broken up into five pieces that are all 512x512. It's a quirk of WoW and the BLP format that all images have to have dimensions that are powers of two and the maximum size of any image is 512x512.

You should be able to copy the dragon skin plugin, rename it to something else for your own skin and replace the dragon skin textures (the BLP files) with your own. Pick up a copy of "WoW UIDesigner" from this site to edit the TOC and LUA files to change the names to your own file names and you'll be good to go. When you're done, you're welcome to upload your new dashboard skin to the optional files section for nUI at http://www.wowinterface.com/download...=9108#optional so others can enjoy it as well.

Unfortunately, the only way to put the player and target at the top would be to put the location and mouseover frame at the top and move the minimap and focus to the bottom, which would also mean that the non-raid unit panels would have to move the player and target to the bottom along with the focus (these things all fit together like puzzle pieces) -- so for the most part, the answer to your question is kind of, no... it can't be moved to the top.

Sorry... and thank you for the kind word... you guys really have no idea how much it helps me deal with the negativity ~lol~

TONIGHT???? HOLY CRIT BATMAN !!! I can't wait....man this anticipation has been killing me. I love the raid frames. Having perfect raid on the side of the screen (while the info is nice) just takes up to much room.....I do have a couple of suggestions but ill keep them to myself until I get 5.0 in the mail tonight (/cross fingers) Keep up the awesome work speil2001.

5.0 Looks great! Can't wait to get the Raid frames. Only suggestion I would have is, can you arrange the groups by group #? For example, in a 10 man raid with only two groups, have group 1 on the left and group 2 on the right. With multiple groups, just have the unit frames arranged sequentially by group.

I guess I didn't make it clear, I love the upper console panel, and what is in it now, and what you have planned for it. I was meaning within the area the unit frames are currently. I'm not a huge hud fan, I only use the simple hud, but as a tank my own health/mana is of paramount importance and by having my unit frame at the bottom of the screen I can see it making it difficult. Maybe it'll be the change that gets me used to the hud, who knows XD. Still looking great though.

I'll have to keep an eye on that. I didn't see it happen in naxx last night and I play at 1900x1200 myself. But, then, for the 5.0 I've pulled the aura bars into the default distribution, so I may have changed something there.

/script VehicleMenuBar:Hide()

You can make that a macro, as well, and place it at the left end of your bottom left action bar so it's not hidden when the frame comes up. The only caveat is that you cannot use that command while in combat.

Sorting of the raid frames by group number or class is already on the to-do list.

I do realize what you meant and that was what I was talking about... if you look at the current unit frames you have, the player, minimap/focus and target are all on a row together. The player location and mouseover goes under that. In a party, the player pet and ToT fit in the gap under the player/target unit frames and to the left/right of the location/mousover frame.

Now, look at the 25 and 40 man raid panels and you'll see that the player, pet, target and ToT are all using the "height" of the location/mouseover space while the raid units are taking advantage of the extra width of the upper space to the left and right of the minimap/focus.

In order to do what you're asking, I would have to switch the locations of the location/mouseover and the minimap/focus to the location is on top and the minimap on the bottom -- that way the player/pet/target/tot would fit across the top and the raid units under that.

But, if I reverse the position of the location and minimap, then when you're not in a raid, I would have to have the player and target unit frames on the bottom because that's where the minimap is now.

Follow?

EDIT: btw -- as a tank myself (my main) the health race bar is your friend... it shows you your health, your target's health and your health relative to their health all in one bar right in the field of play.

I wanted you to know Spiel, I've been using nUI since the first day it was offered .I was one of the people that got tired of updated tons of mods all the time ( bar/portrait/artwork..etc.)

And, as a minority, I am not a raider...hardly EVER party up unless it's my wife and kids.

Loving it, and can't wait to see what else you surprise us with!

Ok, I do see what your talking about, and you're right, and as well, i tried the healthrace bar, and after re-reading the button explanation, yea, no need to worry about health bars/unit frames as a tank other than my raid members so i can taunt off them.

Now all I need is a bit easier way to configure clique, and to try and figure out why my mouseover macros don't otherwise work with the nui unit frames. OH, and a grid/healbot style aggro indicator, unless that exists, i'll have to watch in raid tonight..... hope you got my info for the donation, wtb 25man raid frames for 3 drakes tonight =D

Again, much kudos, i can't wait to drop even more addons come 5.0

Kiwi -- there's a mod called "Clique" that handles the click-casting. Install it and you should be set... of course, you'll have to configure Clique, but that's not something I'm qualified to help you with.

Exclamation nUI 5.00.00 Alpha -- first release -- has just been mailed...

The first alpha release of nUI 5.0 has just been e-mailed to nUI's supporter base. If you have not received your copy and you are an nUI contributor, please e-mail me at [email protected] -- Please note that this release is not available for public download and is available via e-mail only to nUI's subscribers, contributors and language translators.

First and foremost, this release has changed the file structure of nUI. With that in mind, you should either delete or rename your existing [ Interface > AddOns > nUI ] directory before you install this release.

Second, if you are using the nUI_AuraBars plugin, you should uninstall it as the functionality is now part of nUI’s default distribution and the plugin will actually prevent you from using the advanced features that will be coming soon.

Finally, this is the first alpha and there is *much* of the 5.0 not yet done. For all practical purposes, this release is a glorified nUI 4.0 with the exception that all of the UI layout data has been placed into separate files with its own directory structure in order to support alternate layouts and the new raid frames have been added for 15, 20, 25 and 40 man raids. You cannot, as yet, create or select alternate layouts. The intent of this alpha release is to prove the new layout engine is stable and to stress test the raid unit frames. It is not the intent of this first release to address anything to do with customizing the nUI layout.

In the coming week I am expecting to (a) fix whatever bugs you guys turn up in this release, (b) finally get around to enabling the agro, hit and curse feedback indicators in unit frames and (c) finish converting all of the nUI code that does not yet support skinning. I expect to put out another update this coming weekend and in the event we turn up any bugs in this first alpha (which I’m sure we will) I may also put out an emergency bug fix during the week.

If at all possible, please post any bug reports, comments, suggestions, etc., for the 5.0 at http://www.wowinterface.com/forums/s...ad.php?t=16845 – if you cannot, then you can comment to me directly via e-mail to [email protected] or on any of nUI’s comment boards. I do prefer to use the main support forum however so everyone has the opportunity to see what’s been reported, suggested, etc.

As always, I thank you all for your support…

My continued thanks to everyone for their support!

How you can help support nUI's continued development: I am currently trying to recover from 14 months of unemployment and with over $20,000 in debt (unpaid mortgage payments, loans, etc.), every penny makes a serious difference. Your contribution of $5, $10, $20 or more to support the ongoing development of nUI would be greatly appreciated. Please visit https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/websc...tton_id=681357 to make a donation now!

Lastly, please vote for nUI and add it to your favorites list... it helps nUI get more exposure. Thanks for your support!

Aurabars

Hi Scott,

Thanks for this brandnew release!

I was a bit surprised to see the AuraBars ON by default. Anyway, I set maxauras to 0, did a 'nui rl', hoped to see the Blizz auras back but nope, no auras at all. So for the time being I will have the nUI AuraBars.

Bliz auras haven't been in nUI since nUI was first released. I presume you're referring to the standard aura buttons that were in the prior releases? If so, I will be putting out a plugin for those once we get the 5.0 stable, it just seems that more people want the aura bars than the buttons, so I'm reversing the roles of which is default and which is built in.
