handling multiple raid layouts

I am wondering if there is a general consensus on what's the best practice for handling multiple raid layouts? I am swapping between layout 25 and layout 40 depending on the presence of raid26, which includes resizing of the frames. Supposing I am not hell bent on making it work in combat, should I just use a single set of headers for both layouts and delay resizing until after combat, or should I spawn a separate set for each layout with appropriate initial config funcs and use [@raid26,exists] to swap them?

The question occured to me because basically I have no idea if the overhead cost of running two sets of raid frames is anything I should worry about.

Also if I go the second route, should I bother disabling unit watch and elements on unused frames or can I just leave them be since the dispatcher doesn't forward any events to them anyway?
