Lightbulb Debuff bars

Hey Scott. Don't squish me for suggesting this. You told me where to find the player debuffs and mob buffs. It's just, my brain is drool, and when I have to look too many places for stuff, I get confused and lose all ability to play and then I get deaded. *laugh*

So, I thought... when you have the time, and if you have the inclination... that you might make a plug-in that gives debuff aura bars. I'm thinkin they'd sit right beside the buff bars. Same for mobs. Of course you could just add them to the currently displayed bars. Just might color the debuffs red so we could see which are buffs and which are debuffs. Or whatever. I'm not a coder. Heh.

Anyway, that's my little suggestion. Also, did the map get a little smaller with the 3.1 dev versions? Or am I doing something retarded? But my arrow and all the dots on the map (like for my pet and for whatever I'm tracking) have gotten tiny. =( Maybe I'm running another addon that's doing that? I do have Cartographer. I got rid of my other map modifiers... I wasn't using them with nUI anyway, so I got rid of simpleMinimap and another one, not sure the name of it. Anyway, just thought I'd ask about it.

Okay, I'm gonna go die for a while. I'm so incredibly, horribly sick. UGH. Less than a week after getting out of the hospital. Fun, n'est pas? I'm sure I caught this thing while there at the hospital. It's such a "healy" place, don'tcha think? *giggle*

Holly --

Sorry to hear you've been so sick ~frown~ but thinking positive thoughts for getting better. ~smile~

I'll be the first to admit that I am not satisfied with the current aura setup and I'm looking to improve on it.

As for the minimap... nothing has changed there, so it should be the same. I would not be surprised to learn that Cartographer was messing with it though.

Oh cool, thanks Scott. Good luck with whatever you decide to do with the bars (when you get time, obviously).

I'll disable cartographer and see if that's the culprit. =)

More likely it's the patch that changed the mini-map. I have heard that the icons on the map now scale with the min-map size.

Okay I was thinking you meant they scale with the level of zoom. So, the smaller the mini-map, the smaller the icons? It makes a little sense, but if that's the case, I'm screwed. I have a hard time seeing things on my mini-map now with this whole teeny icons issue. It's very very frustrating.

I took 3 screens of me and my pet, separated, so you can see my arrow size and the size of his circle. I took one with minimap zoomed all the way out (which is how I usually keep it), one with it zoomed all the way in, and then I logged out and disabled Cartographer, logged back in and took the third shot. No difference at all. They're still teeny. I think an ant is bigger than these icons. They're like... flea sized. =( Stupid Blizzard. *sigh*

Screens attached.

(oh, nifty hint for those who don't know... the Manage Attachments upload doesn't like filenames with parenthesis in them. Heh. Oh well. Hyphens will have to do me.)

What happens if you use the "Use UI Scale" option in the video options section and increase the value of the slider? (ps: you will have to do a '/nui rl' after you adjust it)

No need to JPG... just hit screencap in WoW and upload the capture files directly.

Okay, no change. I enabled the UI slider, left it at high, where it was, and reloaded. Looked the same... everything did. So, I went back in, moved the slider down to a bit under halfway, reloaded and still no change in anything. Nothing was smaller or bigger at all. Including the icons on the minimap. =(

Hrm, hopefully these will be clearer pics... I'm uploading from the WoW screenshots directory like you said. =)

(I removed the other screens since they were crap... might save WoWI some space)

Yup -- that's about the way mine look too... but I have no control over it because Blizzard doesn't allow mods to have access to anything in the minimap (the POIs, etc.)

Scott, not sure if you're working on this or not (I'm sure you already have a lot on your plate so if you're not, it's cool. It's not dire or anything). But in case you are, I just wanted to let you know I need to go lay down for a while... very dizzy. I'll try to come back in a while and look for any other suggestions or anything. I wanted to be available to you to help debug it if I could, if you needed me to try anything else... I just can't right now.

*hug*

Unfortunately, it's not something I can fix. It's a change Blizzard has made to the minimap and I can't go inside it to make those icons bigger ~frown~

Cool

Okay, the laying down thing didn't work out. Sick of laying down anyway. Also I should try to eat something. Haven't eaten since yesterday.

ANYhoo, I know you can't change the objects inside the minimap. Is there a way to make the minimap a little bigger, though? Since apparently Blizz made icons respond to the size of the minimap itself? Seems that'd be the only option. Or, I could do what I really don't wanna do and remove nUI's control of the minimap. Bleh. =(

Anyway, thanks for trying to help hon. =)

(and, umm, I dunno if you're married or attached.. not that it matters and I don't need to know... just some folks get a bit touchy when I call them hon or darlin or whatever cuz they're afraid it might look like they're flirting. Just wanted you to know, I'm not. It's just my way of showing kindness, friendship. kinda like the Southerner's, where I come from, use Ma'am and Sir to show respect to their elders or anyone in a position of authority, whatever... heh, took me a while to stop saying "Yes Ma'am" and "Yes Sir" after I moved up here to Maine. Used to freak people out. *rofl* Anyway, just wanted you to know that I'm not flirting or making any advances... just being friendly. It's my way. =) ...)

Now let's see if my Sig works right...

Damn... I was hoping you were flirting ~lol~

(ps: I'm single, no fear here ~grin~)

Now... the Yes Sir and Yes Ma'am thing... I'm Virginia born and raised and my Mom would kick my butt if I failed to use those manners... I still do it, even call my 11yo Daughter Ma'am (when I'm not calling her other things) ~snicker~

Where in Maine? My family has a place up on Mile Stretch in Biddeford Pool... been in the family a bit over 100 years now. Spent my summers there as a youth.

Anywho... increasing the size of the minimap is a problem based on space I'm afraid. There's just no room to make it bigger

Wink

Aha! Well then... coy smile, a turn of the ankle, tilt of the head... *wink wink nudge nudge* *giggle*

I'm in Orono, actually, just north of Bangor, right beside the college. I absolutely love it here. I was soooo ready to get outta Georgia... too many bad memories there. But I remember the first time I saw the daylight sky here in Maine... it was so blue and high. There's a community feel to this state. Everyone helps everyone else. Even strangers smile and hold the door for you. You can leave your front door unlocked, and your car doors too. You can actually turn your car on in the winter to warm it up and go back inside with the car running and doors unlocked with little worry.

I wasn't used to that. I lived mostly around the metro Atlanta area and people are MEAN to each other, the news is nothing but 30 minutes of blood, rape, death, and horror, you HAVE to lock your doors... even in your car when you're driving... and even then you have to keep your eyes open all the time. It's not like that here. Took me a long while to stop looking all around me, scanning for possible danger.

But the beauty here is beyond compare to me. Lots and lots of trees, which I love, with me being all druidic-like. There's actually four seasons here (the locals will say 5, if you include mud season *giggle*). And I LOOOOOVE snow. Who woulda known? I don't mind the cold. I actually sometimes wrap myself up in a blanket, open the door, cuddle up on the couch and watch it snow at night. Everything seems so peaceful when it's snowing... like nothing bad could be happening right then. My Dad's side of the family came to visit me once a couple years after I moved here. They all hated the cold and the snow. I hated the grey, rainy, brown grass winters in GA... just seemed so ugly. My Mom loves snow too. Wish she had the money to come visit. She'd love it up here.

Anyway, betcha can't tell I'm a romantic drama queen, eh? *grin* AND, I just burned my grilled cheese cuz I got so wrapped up in writing this reply. *laugh* Off I go to make more.

*hugs*

Hrm... you're usually much speedier with your replies. You either got very busy, you're embarassed by my flirtaciousness, OR you went to bed. I'm guessing the latter. (pansy) *GRIN*

~lol~

I passed out... it was a really long week and I still haven't recovered.

I have to confess, the snow thing... ummm... yeah... I'm over that. I lived in a little town called Dryden about half way between Ithaca and Binghamton, NY for quite a few years, then moved from there to Jamestown, NY with is south of Buffalo on the SE corner of Erie. The running joke in Jamestown was that every time Buffalo got a foot of snow, we got two.

That said, I do *love* Maine. I just have no desire to winter there anymore. And you're right about the people, though things are a bit different in Biddeford because that's such a tourist destination... we have "issues" with the visitors.

The sky thing... OMG yes... the sky in Maine blows my mind. I love astronomy as well, and the nights are to die for. I love taking the telescope down to the beach at low tide and just taking in the night. I always seem to get run off by the incoming surf before I realize how long I've been out there.

When I first moved here, before I got too disabled and sick to go, I used to take trips to Schoodic Point every Autumn and go out to the big rock cliffs (not where you're meant to go, but it was the most fun and rewarding out there). It was a chore just to get to the cliffs... you had to climb down and up and over all kinds of boulders and such, and jump over big cracks in the rocks too. We always brought bread to feed the bzillions of seagulls there. There was one who hung out there that only had one leg... I've actually got a pic of him. =) Anyway, I used to find this particular spot, an outcropping or whatever, to sit on and look straight down at the ocean's waves crashing against the cliff. I'd just sit there and watch the ocean and the sky... it was so peaceful, but so vast and telling. It got dark out there on me before I knew it. I miss that place so much.

We went to Cadillac Mountain once and when we were done and going to the car to leave, I turned and looked at the sky. Sun was setting and the sky was PURPLE! It was incredible! We both took pictures but since we were using those crappy disposable cameras, the colors didn't come out right. But it was amazing to see. And once we went to Bar Harbor, right after I moved up here, and found a place where we could get close to the water. Of course most Maine coastlines have plenty of rocks on them, so we decided to skip rocks... for hours. Man my arm hurt like never before the next day. *laugh* But it was very fun, unforgettable, and part of my history with this wonderful place.

The beginning of the end of my trips to the ocean started when I asked my bf to take us all (me, him, and my son... my son's now 20 which makes me old! I'm already re-telling stories my son has heard over and over from me ... like I'm elderly. UGH.). When we got near Bar Harbor, we saw a good spot of land by the ocean. We stopped and went out to enjoy it. There was even a little sand there so I took off my shoes/socks... which was a bad idea cuz MOST of it was rocks. Heh. But 5 or so minutes after we got there, I started having a panic attack... dunno why. But it was bad. My bf had to find a place to stop and get a few paper towels wet with cold water and whatever else he got. That was my last trip down there.

So, you lived in a place that gives tons and tons of lake effect snow? Harsh. I love snow. I never seem to get enough of it. But I imagine it would wear thin to get as much of it as you guys did. But I think I heard that it's nice up-state? I've only been in NY twice. Once was a layover on the way home to GA to attend my grandmother's funeral. The other was when we drove through the city with our Ryder truck filled with all my possessions, and trailing my car behind, on our way to Maine and far away from Georgia. We had to stop for a toll booth at the George Washington bridge... I don't remember how much the toll was, but my former bf and I used to laugh and say that with as much as we had to pay, we want our piece of the bridge. *giggle*

Okay, gonna go lay back down before the dizzies knock me over. *laugh*

hey great UI i love it and as a healer i only have one gripe... is there a way to not monitor target debuffs?

I use healbot and my target is generaly the boss for down time DPS and I like keeping track of my buffs but the entire right side of my screen gets filled up with boss debuffs and annoys me to no end. I have to move the aura slider up to check my buffs b4 a pull and then slide it down b4 i start lol

ty and keep up the great work
