Freezing on attcking...

I have just recently taken to leveling an alt and started questing in Borean Tundra and found that if I right click a target to attack WoW freezes and subsequently crashes. I have tested this on multiple toons and with different combinations of mods (e.g. all on, all off, nUI only, etc.). I have found that with nUI on I can generate the bug, however, if I turn it (nUI) off no freeze.

Any help would be great.

Hmm, very strange. I've used nUI for all of my toons of which 8 are 70+ and hit borean with no problems.

And the problem occurs even with just nUI running on its own ?

Anyone else having a similar problem ?

Whenever I have problems with WOW crashing, I just delete my CACHE subdirectory and it usually goes away never to return (until next time....lol).

Well unfortunately deleting my cache didn't work (or clearing my WTF folder). But I have added that folder to my CCleaner so it will always be clear.

Xrystal, yes if I isolate to just nUI it will crash as well as if I run nUI with other mods, however, if all of my other non-nUI mods are on (-nUI) I'm good to go.
This must be a new issue because it never happened in the past while leveling out there. /sigh

Thanks for the help. I'll have to try it out in the next zone to see if it’s a zone specific "bug".

I can now say that it is Not a zone specific “bug”, as I just experienced a crash outside Org. /facepalm

I'm curious if this isn't a memory problem. What happens if you disable nUI5 and enable nUI6... Does it still crash?

Well I have now tested as many combinations of graphics settings and nUI5 or 6 as I can think of. Is there some trick I'm forgetting? LOL. I've dumped my cache folder and the WTF, is there any other folder I should clear?

Now when you say memory problem do you mean RAM or in-game? Because I'm only using 22% while playing, but my CPU usage is at 75% (don't if that's too high). /shrugs

Thanks for looking in to it.

When I say a memory problem, I don't mean broken memory... but how much and how it's being used (a paging error). That's why I was curious if nUI6 works without causing crashes, because it uses memory very differently than nUI5 does.

Ah. I have tried both 5 and 6 (as well as older ver. of 5) with the same results, freeze/crash. It seems to be only on attacking a target either with right click or keybind. I have tried repairing wow as well with no joy. Do you think that this could require a re-install of WoW?

Ok I have completed a full reinstall of all WoW and addon files, No joy. Also updated my graphics, mouse and keyboard drivers, No joy.

Is there anything else I could check? Anyone? LOL.

Hmm, maybe using nUI just pushes you over your memory usage limit but I can't see why that would happen. Especially with version 6 and so far just in one zone. Very unusual.

Whats really weird is that nothing freaks out till I attack. And its in all zones as far as I have tested.

Ah, all zones make it a bit more reasonable..

What graphic settings are you using in game ? If you are on anything higher than fair try putting it down to fair. This should be in the Advanced section of the video options if you've never visited that area before. I always play on fair just so I don't have to worry about that sort of problem.

No joy, set to fair. As soon as I right click on the mob it freezes.

Okay, lets test this out ( next time I'm playing that is ) what class are you and what abilities do you generally use ? I have pretty much every class so hopefully I have yours covered enough to test that zone.

There is a logs folder in your wow folder. You could play and get it to crash and check what they say but you might have to rename the existing logs folder first to say logs.old and let it create a new one with the new error messages.

So the only two WoW logs that had any sort of possibly bad info were.

Hmm, I personally can't see anything there that points to any specific addon being the cause .. hopefully someone else can see something that will help.

I will try one last thing tonight after work. Switching back to my old graphics card. Its been over 2 months that I've been playing with it, but maybe it's dying.

I just can't wrap my head around why attacking and only attacking freeze me up. And nUI5 & nUI6 have the same results. /sigh

Well I have now tried everything that I can think of (old video card, new one in a different slot, cleaned out my tower).

I look forward to the next ver. of nUI 5 or 6. For now I will just have to rough it without nUI.
