Mazzle in Wrath of the Lich King

Forgive me if this has been asked before, or are posted anywhere else, the search function isn't nice to me.
But are there any plans of updating Mazzle at 3.0 and beyond? - Provided the ui/mod-thingies changes as much as they did in 2.0.

Uhh, I guess the answer at this point is no one knows. DocEVL was working to get things up and running again lately but he's disappeared. So right now there aren't any updates coming period that I know of.

Right now, beta UI development is very much a "moving target", so it's hard to work on fixing anything quite yet. I'm cobbling together working versions of (or trying to fix) things I used most often, but every other build seems to break something.

All in good time, though. Seems like there are enough folks around with Lua and XML experience to keep this going when things plateau a bit more

I know that this really shouldn't go here but I figured it most fit. My husband told me that MazzleUI will no longer have anymore updates and that he saw that Mazzle had posted this. The only thing Mazzle was going to be doing anymore was the 3d characters, is that correct?

I don't know where your husband heard that, but Mazzle himself certainly hasn't said anything like that. As long as there is a community that loves this UI, it will continue to be updated.

This is pure speculation, which means I probably shouldn't even say it, but from what I 'm hearing from people in the beta a lot of the mods Mazzle currently uses are not working as-is in WotLK. Whether or not they'll be updated prior to or after the release of the expansion is yet to be seen. (And here's the speculation) I'd venture to say that Mazzle won't work the day the expansion is released, at least not 100%.

I can almost guarantee, though (and again, more speculation... yay for speculation!), that the community will have it fixed before too long.

If I even try to load Mazzle on beta, it just locks up the game and never loads, sits at the progress loading bar for ages. I have to hard-crash the app to get out.

And with all the builds it's hard to get a working ui, give it some time after wotlk is released for a genuine fix. Or at least once beta hit's a stable platueu.

What happened with BC will likely happen here too.

About 6 weeks before BC Release, Blizzard did the 2.0 change which opened talent trees and disabled some of the calls and broke some add-ons (like the old Decursive)

Since the actual expansion didn't go live for another 6 weeks, there was a new version of Mazzle available on day 1 of the expansion.

A couple of big IFs here, but IF Blizzard follows the same strategy and IF someone is working in that interval to fix the UI, there may be a working UI we all know and love to use on go-live date.

From what I've read, it shouldn't be quite so troublesome this time around. 2.0 was a radical change that introduced some very fundamental security measures (taint, secure frames or whatever they were called) that required serious re-tooling of many add-ons. I haven't heard of anything quite so basic in this one. My guess is that it will be analagous to a normal patch.

I just love MazzleUI, and don't think I can play properly without it ever again. o:
