And you are very right... it is a uniquely American thing. Here, liberalism is synonymous with handouts and entitlement. I am actually very liberal in most regards and consider myself conservative only on the subjects of fiscal policy, national defense and the rule of limited government.

Yeah -- I've taken that quiz before. I'm not sure it isn't a bit biased in its design though. All the same, I come up a relatively staunch libertarian -- which I can accept.
