Action Bar Visibility

Hello Again:

Last thought for the night. You have a mouseover option available now for the action bars - but I believe it is an all or nothing deal. Not sure it is possible, but would be great if I could pick and choose each bar that is on vs. mouseover vs. hidden completely.

Thank you as always!

Lisa

I'll keep that in mind, as well.

I have been playing around with my action bars recently - they are one of my least favorite features of the WoW UI, and while nUI adds some nice feedback information, I don't really like its default set-up either.

From another game, I am used to having different action bars vertically stacked, with Ctrl, Alt and Shift selecting them. I find this helps me organize and remember things easily.

You can manually arrange nUI's bars this way (and I have) but if you are going to add individual bar visibility, it would be nice to allow it to be hot-keyed to modifers like Shift, Alt, Control+Shift, etc as well as mouse-sensitive.

In other words, I want a bar which which appears when I press and hold (for example) Shift, so I can then hot-key all the buttons on that bar to Shift+(1-=).

Being able to control the page order of the different bars would also be nice. I have hacked my copy of nUI so I can get to the small lower-right/left bars (whose buttons I do not have hot-keyed) easily using Shift+Up and Shift+Down.

I am sort of waiting for nUI6 to see if I like the action bars more, otherwise I may try my hand at an extension/plug-in to make them do what I want.

One other side-note on action bars which is not really worth its own thread, but which had me stumped for half the day yesterday:

Checking the boxes to show additional action bars in the Blizzard Interface Options->Action Bars panel screws up paging with Shift+Up and Shift+Down (only a subset, fewer than six, of the bars can be paged if you have any of them checked). Somewhere in the FAQ or in response to questions I have seen it said that these options are irrelevant, but in fact you need to have them all unchecked if you want paging to work properly.

That's actually a recent change in the UI (the bars being checked affecting the paging) -- they didn't used to.

As for hotkey based bars... that is actually a goal of nUI6 which has been described in the past. The thing is that's too much for most players, so it cannot be the default. However, the intent is to make the nUI6 action bars programmable... somewhat like Macaroon I suppose ( not exactly )

I suspect nUI6 will fall a little short of your goal, but I think it will be close. We'll see.
