Reset font size

Thats pretty much what happens to me, I reset, play, logout, log in and boom small fonts

Rofl, you replied while I was editing .. read the post again .. size 16 is small for the font nUI has set up as default. I had to change from 18 to 12 and back to test the difference out rofl.

Okay, go into your nUI localization file in the nUI/Main folder and see what you have that is different from what I have there... in this section:

Okay, changed it to use the Bazooka Font instead as I know that has a large font size difference. Took a screenshot of all 4 sizes and changed it to the largest size .. logged to character selection and back again and still set to the largest size. I just can't get it to reset the font size at all without changing it myself from the chat tab.

It is definetly smaller and it resets everytime I logout, so much smaller that it isi the first thing I see when I log in, I say to myself I can't frakking read that, set font to 14 and I am good to go.

I don't think I am doing anything different from what you are doing.

Okay, list your addons and I will see what the differences are. Maybe there is something there that may be doing something there. Hopefully not too many different addons though

I have several addons that are disabled such as Bartender 4, Button Facade and Stella Bars, but I haven't used them since finding NUI few weeks ago.

Hmm, can't see anything obvious unless carbonite does something .. but just found a setting that may have an effect although I would have thought it would stop you from changing things rather than stop from keeping them.

Have a look at your blizzard settings and see whether you have Lock Chat Settings, in the social section, checked or not. I don't have mine checked.

Nope, leave it as it is then .. curious .. I really am at a loss as to why it works for some people and not for others. Try turning off everything except the nUI stuff and see what happens then. At least that way we have more control over what to change if anything between me and Scott if it still happens

If it works then that must mean *sherlock holmes impression incoming* that it undoubtedly must be one of the ones you just turned off. So turn them back on one at a time and try again. Once you find which addon looks to be the cause, see if there is an option on it somewhere to do with the chat frames.

Okay, I turned them all off, even the NUI addons, logged back in had a small font. I then logged out, logged in enabled one addon, rince and repeat until I had enabled all of them.

In each case I had the same result, log in = small font, reset font, log out, log in = small font so I don't know what to say.

All of this being said it is nothing more than an annoyance, NUI is great.

1. What particular sizes are you testing with and getting ?
2. Are you trying something outrageous like changing it to 18 and then logging back in and it has changed to like 12 ?
3. What font size is ticked when you right click the chat frame chat tabs ?
4. After you log out does that chat-cache.txt file reflect the size you changed it to ?

It might be simply the case that it is not saving the change you are making and always reverting back to the last size it could record. Looking at the file contents you messaged me with they are all small sizes 12 and 14. Which gives me the opinion that it is ignoring the changes you make full stop. So question 4 is the important one in that instance.

Maybe a screenshot of it after you changed it and then when you log back in afterward.

I prefer a 14 pitch font so that is what I select when I log in, it rests to an unknown font as no font size is checked.

I checked the chat-cache.txt file this afternoon while I was disabling, renabling addons and it showed me what I selected while I was logged in but when I log back in it is using a small font again.

Dumb question time now, since iI have not used these forums previously, how does one insert a screenshot?

Okay, when you have the message screen open , scroll down a bit and you should see manage attachments. You can use that to add screenshots and stuff.

Now, from what you are saying it sounds like it is somehow taking nUI's default settings but then not taking in your changes into account for some reason.

Is anyone else having this problem ? Perhaps if there are more people there may be a commonality that will help us identify the cause.

I can't see any in game reason why this is happening and it clearly is storing the change you are selecting but then blindly ignoring it for you. But others have reported the opposite and not being able to revert back to the small font including myself *mind boggles*.

I personally have no clue and again it's not a complaint, just a question, I am perfectly fine resetting it until some reason is found for this, it's not a huge deal.

I appreciate all the help today, I will check back a little later. And by the way, what is Prat and would it be of use in a situation like this?

In short, yes, it would help that problem. It has other functions which I never use but it definitely works for setting and changing fonts

An update, this morning I have an even smaller font, see attached thumbnail and here is chat cache info below, I think by looking at this it thinks some of the windows have a font of 12 or 14? They do not, I can barely read it, def not 12 or 14,

Well, the guildchat, whisper and generic chat plugins I wrote I believe I can fix up to use the font settings you choose, now that I know how to access them after looking at blizzards chatframe.lua file. I will try and get that added over the next few days.

Once I've confirmed that it is doing what it should hopefully Scott will be able to add similar code into the nUI core for the main and combatlog chat frames.
