Dornaa (and others)

There are known several issues with the (de)buff icon functionality I am working to address. All of them are transient in nature and driving me completely up the wall.

1) (de)buff timers seemingly randomly choose to appear or not to appear on (de)buffs that should have timers

2) (de)buff stack counts randomly choose to appear or not to appear on (de)buffs that should have stack counts

3) in adaptive regions where auras to the player's detriment or benefit are suppose to be displayed, if there are no auras of that type, for some reason the auras of the opposite type are displayed. i.e. The player/target HUD is supposed to display buffs on hostile mobs and debuffs on friendly players. However, if the hostile mob has no buffs, for some reason the region displays the debuffs on the mob instead of being empty... this is why people are seeing all the redundency in (de)buffs in the UI.

4) To the best of my knowledge, this bug is now fixed, but I'm listing it anyway just to be safe and that is there was, previously, an issue with (de)buffs that were on the player/mob not displaying at all. As I said, I'm fairly certain this is fixed, but mention it in case anyone else notices this behavior still occuring.

I am working to resolve all of these, but am admittedly a bit stumped on why any of them are occuring at them moment. I'll sort it out eventually.

Many thanks for the hard work!

I will, at a minimum, add Grid to the list of mods I support. I'm not sure, yet, how or if I would integrate with nUI other than, perhaps, to give it a panel. I just hope that doing that does not break it. It may. In any event, I'll look into it.

I also mentioned back on like, page 20 or something, how heavily I rely on Grid. I really think it would be to the advantage of nUI to code in some compatability for it. I think most high end healers use it, or at least my friends and guildies do.

You asked for some Grid specific feedback, so here's a quote from my 2nd post to this forum:

"It's setup to show who's missing my class buffs, who's got aggro (when I'm tanking) and who's got a shield or IB (probably about to start taking damage), who's got curses (on my mage), who's missing how much HP (for healing of course) and how many lifebloom stacks do they have, and who's already got HOTS from other healers so I can work on people that need healing, raid mana, and readycheck statuses."

Here's a list of Grid plugins I use:
Grid
GridManaBars
GridSideIndicators
GridStatusHots
GridStatusLifebloom
GridStatusMissingBuffs
GridStatusRaidIcons
GridStatusReadyCheck

Here's a link to the Elitist Jerks thread where I got most of my ideas for how I've currently got Grid setup: http://elitistjerks.com/f32/t14988-g...functionality/

I cannot emphasize enough how much value I think Grid (and all its plugins) bring to parties. If there's anything else I can help with on the subject of Grid, just let me know.

tStorm -- nUI is going to have its own complete chat system a la WIM at some point. It just is not at the top of the priority list. This will include options for time stamps on messages, class colors, logging whispers, individual tabs for whispers, etc. I'm just not sure when I will get to this... it could even be after WotLK. We'll see.

I even went so far as to only install NUI and Prat and it's still not working!

I love the ui and I'm currently using Beta 1 cause of the missing raid frames in Beta 2 can't wait to update to beta 2 though!

Could you possibly work this into your ui and have it actually work

TIA

Eloora -- lol -- actually... the debuffs on the right of the HUD should never have been there in the first place. Only auras which are to the player's detriment are supposed to appear on the HUD with the exception of the line of spells you have cast on the target, and their timeouts, directly below the player casting bar on the HUD.

That is, the space to the left of the player in the player/targer HUD as well as the space to the left of the player's pet should only be displaying debuffs on the player and pet, never buffs. The space to the right of the target and ToT should be displaying only buffs on hostile targets or dispellable debuffs on friendly targets.

At the moment, this adaptive behavior is broken and if the hostile target has no buffs on it, rather than display no auras at all it is displaying the debuffs on the target and for the life of me I cannot figure out why. I'm so fruestrated by the (de)buff code at present I'm just about ready to hit delete and start coding from scratch on it again -- only I think I'll end up in the same place ~lol~

EDIT: Woohoo! I finally found the logic error that was causing the HUD and unit frames to display buffs that were helpful to the player instead of harmful when there were no harmful buffs. The fix will be in the next update. Now... if only I could figure out what's up with stack counts and timers on the (de)buffs. /sigh

Asder --

The issue with TomTom is a known issue... this also applies to some degree to Cartographer and Carbonite. In a nutshell, it appears these mods use the same frame for their event handling as the mod's content frame itself. The problem with this is that when you hide the content, you also disable the event handling. I have always used separate invisible frames for event handling so this does not happen and did not anticipate this problem. I'm looking for a work-around.

One thing that would be nice is to have counters for DoT's for the Warlock

Other than that stuff, It's A Great Addon keep up the good work

Talking Good news / badd news...

Well everyone... I have good news, and I have bad news.

The good news is that the company I interviewed with last week, http://www.deicorp.net, made me an offer and I start work Monday.

The bad news is that the company I interviewed with last week, http://www.deicorp.net, made me an offer and I start work Monday.

~lol~

In short, after 14 months of famine, I'm back in the work force. The down side is that will significantly curtail the number of hours in a day I can devote to this project. That said, this project is NOT going away and I don't intend to slow it down any.

Fortunately, we're at the point now where the key bugs are nailed down with a few exceptions and the key features are mostly in place, so the number of hours needed is a fraction of what it was a week or two ago. Everything happens for a reason, yes?

So... nUI development continues, bug fixes and new features continue and the port to WotLK will still begin October 1. Just starting next week, I'll be a honest working man and not available for e-mail and support during weekday business hours, etc.

In the meantime... I want to take a moment to tell everyone how much their support and good wishes have and do mean.

Thank you all.

*huge sigh of relief*

Spiel - congrats on your new job!

Would you like for some of us users who have been around WoW forever to possibly help you out with support, etc? We can do it here, or I can set you up with webhosting and forums that can be used outside of WoWInterface...

PM me and let me know what we can do to help. Really appreciate all of the work you've put into it!

Ok, so after raiding with Grid, it wasn't my favorite mod in the world (mostly because I don't heal). I went back to sRaidFrames for now. I'm really looking forward to having raid frames in nUI so I can get all that stuff off my screen. :-)

As always... my sincere thanks for everyone for their ongoing support... it's a good day all around... got a job, fixed the *@$% (de)buff icon bugs and got my lock to level 70. I should go buy a lottery ticket ~lol~

Exclamation nUI Beta 2.04.00 just released....

Yaay! The dreaded (de)buff icon bugs fixed at last! Bad news for Druid Kitty Stealth bar though... sorry.

How you can help support nUI's continue development: Your contribution of $5, $10, $20 or more to support the ongoing development of nUI would be greatly appreciated. Click here to make a donation now, please?! Lastly, please vote for nUI and add it to your favorites list... it helps nUI get more exposure. Thanks for your support!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Known Issues:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

* Enabling the "Use UI Scale" option in the Bliz video configuration menu blows up
nUI's layout and scaling. For now... just uncheck this option until I can fix it.

* Some action buttons highlight as invalid/unavailable when they shouldn't... hunter's
feed pet button, rogue's distract, etc.

* Carbonite is having issues updating the directional arrow when the minimap and/or
battlefield minimap is hidden in the info panel

* Durability frame is missing

* Poison Pouch mod minimap button is missed by button bag

* Alpha Map minimap button is not scaling correctly in button bag

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
To-Do List
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

* The 15, 20, 25 and 40 man raid panels are not in the pre-release... both because I am
not quite satisfied with them and, again, I'm trying to not have to fix everything at
once... make sure the core stuff is all working, then add the bells and whistles if
you understand.

* Add Threat Bar back

* Add sorting of raid unit frames by raid group and class

* Add font size options for Chat and Combat log frames

* Add totem timers

* Add keybindings for button bag, unit panel, info panel and hud layout buttons

* Add automatic unit panel switching for raids/parties, etc. (and an override option)

* Add audio cues for cooldowns, cc breaks, etc.

* Add DruidManaBar type functionality to unit frames

* Add 2v2, 3v3 and 5v5 unit frame panels for arena play

* Add Proximo functionality to unit frames for arena unit panels

* Add durability, wardrobe manager, ammo tracker and gold tracker to console buttons

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Version 2.04.00 (Beta)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

* Fixed minor positioning bug in the XP Bar rested XP tick

* Fixed a logic bug in nUI_UnitAura which was causing the unit frames and the HUD to
display hostile target debuffs and friendly target buffs when it was supposed to be
showing the opposite and the target had no buffs or debuffs as the case may be

* Fixed a logic bug in nUI_UnitAura that broke countdown timers and stack counts after
the first time a (de)buff button was used (failed state update)

* Fixed location of pet debuffs in Player/Target HUD

* Removed the druid stealth kitty bar change made in 2.03.00 because it is *not* standard
Bliz action bar behavior and broke the action bar (because Bliz expects druid cat form
to use the same action bar whether stealthed or not, even though I was displaying a
special bar for stealthed cat for, Bliz was not updating the keybindings). I will
revisit this issue at a later date when I add custom action bar capabilities to nUI

* Changed aura icon layering to improve text readability with aura type highlights

* Added XP remaining and rested XP % to XP bar tooltip

* Added reputation bar and mouseover tooltip

* Adjusted location and size of player casting bar and player spells on target in the
Player/Target, Health/Power and Barless HUD layouts to create room for cooldown bar
