Lemme explain....

Currently WoW is in it own folder within the Program FIles

C://Program Files/World of Warcraft/Interface/AddOns

That is my pathway and yes ALL of my Mods are in that same folder. They are all working except for nUI. I have played around and short of reinstalling WoW, which I do not want to do for just one Mod, I have tried everything else

WoW is also not in any other place within my Computer, I looked hard but nope no other files are present labeled World of Warcraft or WoW or any variation on a theme.

Clamaus,
With the release of the bridge patch, the patch itself should of asked Vista users if they wanted to move the game out of the Program Files directory. The Bliz developers did this because so many Vista users had problems just like what you're having. If you had said yes to the move, the patch would of moved the game to C:\Users\Public\Games\World of Warcraft You can move the game there via cut/pasting the entire WoW folder. You shouldn't have to run any part of the game as admin anymore after you've moved it.

To be honest I have NEVER run my game as admin. At least not in Vista. I just 2x click the desktop icon and away I go. I play on my wife's login which is set at standard permission levels. My personal account is the only Admin level acount and I keep it completely walled off for the integrity of the computer in case some family member botches up the Guest account or my wife kills her account.

Funny thing is this-when I load nUI through WoW Matrix or Curse.com it works fine but then its missing the 15+ man Raid frames that I need so again a rather pointless exercise. Again total loss as to what to do.

And the patch never asked anything other than where do I save it.

If the folder inside the nUI folder is just another nUI folder, pull it out and into the Addon directory, replacing the old when/if it asks.

Hopefully this can get fixed for ya, it is very peculiar.

Double checked-yup its there. So what we have is VERY VERY peculiar

When you log into WoW and nUI prints the welcome message, what version does it say you have installed?

I have only seen that message a couple of times then I never saw it again even when it loaded. Now nUI is not loading at all so I am not getting the message. Last I saw was when I loaded the .13 release of nUI-not the plus version

I decided to reload the non plus version through wowmatrix and it works fine but then again I lose the functionality I need in terms of Raid Frames since I can not do 15+ Man Raids. Also I got no message about which version I loaded. I will review the install later but for now I got to hit some errands.

Since you are using wowmatrix, you will never get the latest version. That app doesn't have access to the new nUI+. Here's something for you to try, open that app, hit settings and see what directory it's putting everything to, then manually download the correct release version of nUI from here, and unzip it to that directory. May fix your issue.

I'm going to tell you that when you try to manually install your copy of nUI, you are *NOT* installing it in the correct location.

Do this... search your entire hard drive for the file "nUI.xml" and see where it turns up. I'm going to bet you that you're going to find a copy in a place other than the one where you are trying to install it and that is going to be the location where you *should* be installing it.

thats what I was trying to get at earlier when the patch was put out if you had wow installed it asked everyone to move wow to user/public/games as far as I remember. Like I said I had a similar issue and it would only load add-ons out of one of the installations. Im sure its very frustrating for people to be telling you something that you believe is not true but none of us can actually see whats going on so we all kind of have to tick off whatever it could be piece by piece

Interestingly enough even though I am currently running a copy of nUI-when I did a search for that specific file name-it was not found. When I did a search for nUI.toc-it was in my World of Warcraft file within the Program Files within Drive C. Specifically nUI.toc was in World of Warcraft/Interface/AddOns/nUI. So I would honestly say that it wouldn't likely be a misinstalled file. Heck I even looked at the nUI_5.01.013_Plus.zip file and couldn't find a file labelled nUI.xml. So your guess is as good as mine since a HDD search didn't pull anything up.

Now I will say this whenever i DL a mod from Curse I put them into a folder on my desktop but then obviously I have to extract the files, and I take no chances I don't copy and paste the location. SO that way I know its going to where its supposed to everytime. I checked to see if there were any disconnects in my sequencing and there wasn't, nor could there be cause I have stated I am currently running nUI just unable to run the plus. And yes I have uninstalled nUI MANY times before I loaded the nUI+ version.

If you have any other ideas I am all ears. But again-loading nUI from Curse.com worked-of course still no Raid Frames.

Something is way off then - there *has* to be a nUI.xml file -- that's the one that sets up the frames, background, dashboard, console, etc, as well as loads the base Lua source files. If there's no nUI.xml file then that would explain nUI not loading... but that wouldn't explain why no one else has the same problem.

Did you upgrade to "nUI+ 5.02.00 Development" version?

Welllll..... ~lol~

I'm at a complete loss Carlos... there have been over 1200 downloads of that new version since yesterday morning. No one is reporting any bugs in it or trouble installing it. Are you still unable to get it installed and running?

Okay, lets try a different tactic.

Do a search for wow.exe

Based on what you're telling us it should only come up with 1 folder being listed. But what we're suspecting is that it will appear with 2 or even more.

The moment you installed the Lich King expansion from disc it would have asked if you wanted to move it to the new Users/Public/Games folder. If you let the game upgrade itself by signing up for the new expansion from your wow account page it would not have done. This is what I had a few days ago when I decided to do a reinstall. If that is the case then your existing directory would work as expected.

EG. My wow was in G:/Games/Wow/Live and G:/Games/WoW/Test. Well the test would have been but the test wouldn't install because the game wasn't where it wanted it to be (hence the new reinstall)

However, if you had said yes to the question about moving the folder it doesn't remove the old one so you would have 2 copies of the game on your computer. One that it looks for in your registry settings and one that it doesn't but will let you play from anyway. I came across this when I went to play on my US computer when I went there a few months back and forgot about the new directory set up and wondered why the heck my addons weren't appearing when I was adding them, but my old ones were.

So, what I am basically saying is :

1. Look in <VistaDrive>:/Users/Public/Games/World of Warcraft
2. Look in <VistaDrive>:/Program Files/World of Warcraft
3. Look for wow.exe

One or more of those should give you an idea as to what is happening. If only 1 of them shows up then we are stumped. If you have more than one wow folder as we suspect that is the cause and if you tell us which folders the wow.exe is being listed in that would help us to help you.

Well hopefully this epic message will help you somewhat.

Well, I've got the exact same problem, nUI not loading, and not being able to find the file at all.

The thing is, I did a clean install off nUI, basicly, I deleted all my old add ons, and only installed nUI. I also checked the zip file, and the file aint in there either.

edit: nvm, I found it in the zip file, was looking in the wrong spot.

Anyway, I downloaded the ptr version, wich did work, then I downloaded the latest again but instead of deleting ptr version, I just replaced files. Now it's working. Hope this helps.
