External tool : how to check if WoW is running ?

Hi, I'm writing an external tool that will install an addon, and gather information coming out of this addon... Kind of a database collector tool.

Before installing the addon, reading files or deleting them, I would like to make sure that WoW is not running.

My program is in Java, so AFAIK, I cannot acces the processus list. Do you know any other way to tell if WoW is running ? Does WoW writes a lock file when it is running ? Or any other file that could tell me if it is running or not ?
