was told after 3.3.5 carbonte causes insane fps drop

So i login to wow and do a dungeon Hall of stone. I notice my fps is 12 instead of the usual 60. So i go into trade chat and ask anyone else if the patch caused fps drop, and several people tell me that since the 3.3.5 carbonite causes massive fps and perfermance drop.

can anyone find out if this is the problem?

There are about 20 other threads about this problem including some quick-fix remedies. Go now! Hunt those thread down! Most of them start with something like "CARBONITE BROKE!". Should be easy to find.

Take a look through this thread. A fix has been created for the most part which seems to cure the ChatFrame error only. I'm not sure about other errors though.

You don't need to worry about the line numbers. Different text or Lua editors use slightly different numbering systems. You need to do a global find and replace.
1. On notepad and notepad ++ press CTRL-H.

2. Then in the find what box type ChatFrameEditBox.

3. In the replace with box, type ChatFrame1EditBox and click Replace All.

4. Then remember to save the file.

I think this might be why a lot of folks are saying the fix doesn't work.

The frame rate drop is due to tons of error messages being generated from Blizzard changing chat frames that Carbonite is trying to use. You probably can't see them because I would guess you don't have "Display Lua Errors" on in the Help page of the game Interface settings.

Get Carb 3.34 which should fix it.

I'm still getting the fps issue, but don't think it's related to Carb.

I disabled Carbonite, restarted client, had all my video dropped to lowest settings and still ended up with 0/1 FPS

mind you, normally in PoS, with all settings on high, I still run 50+ FPS during fights... so whatever is going on is a big problem for me.

again, it doesn't seem to be Carb though

3.3.5 uses a lot more memory, esp. around areas that tax the video system. There are threads in the Blizz tech support forum about this. Turn down your video settings, particularly view distance and shadow detail, and see if that helps. They're supposed to release a fix "soon".

Maybe it's related to thottbot: I've their addon also and receive a lot of errors (due to a (possibly improper) use of "nil" into their code). I sent them some bugreports but no news on that.
(and if I try to fix the code, the updater re-gets the wrong one )
